A directory does not fill itself, but at least let the machinery be right
Building a TripAdvisor or Airbnb style portal has two problems of very different size. The small one is the software: listings, maps, bookings, payments. The big one is getting businesses to advertise and visitors to search at the same time, because neither arrives if the other is missing.
Listeo solves the small problem, and solves it completely. The big one is still yours, and worth knowing before you start.
Three ways to book
- By the day, with an availability calendar, guest types (adults, children, pets) and optional add-ons. The accommodation model.
- By time slot, for appointment-based services, with Zoom integration when the meeting is online.
- By ticket and QR code, which the listing owner validates from a phone in their dashboard. The events model.
How money is made with it
The routes are built in: charging to publish a listing, taking a commission on each booking, selling featured placement and advertising campaigns, and offering packages at different tiers. There is also listing claiming, so an already-listed business pays to take control of its own entry.
Payments run through WooCommerce, so the gateway is your pick from the many it supports. Automatic splitting between the listing owner and you, with your commission deducted, works with Stripe.
Maps, which is where the invoices usually turn up
Google Maps charges by usage above a certain volume, and in a directory showing a map on every search that volume arrives sooner than it looks. Listeo supports OpenStreetMap and MapBox as an alternative, and address autocomplete works with OpenStreetMap without needing Google's paid interface. A small detail on the product page and a real difference on the monthly bill.

Do I need paid extensions on top?
The booking system, the user dashboard and messaging come in the theme. For payments it leans on WooCommerce, which is free.
Can I take a commission per booking?
Yes. Automatic splitting between listing owner and administrator works with Stripe.
Is there a dashboard for the listing owner?
Yes, on the public side: they manage listings, bookings, packages, messages, coupons and statistics without entering the WordPress admin.
Can I import many listings at once?
Yes, through WP All Import, which is the usual route for loading an initial set.
