About Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension

Hearing about an outage from your client's email means you are already late

If you maintain several websites, you know the scene: a client writes to say their page won't load and you find out at that very moment. The bigger your portfolio gets, the harder it is to check every site by hand.

Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension is a MainWP extension that gathers the status of every child site connected to your Dashboard on a single screen, so you are the one who warns the client and not the other way around.

Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension checks every 5 minutes and confirms before alerting

This is what it does in practice:

  • Continuous checks: it checks the status of each site every 5 minutes, day and night.
  • Outage confirmation: if a site doesn't respond, it runs additional checks over the following 3 minutes to confirm the problem is real before sending you the alert.
  • Single view: all your sites on one screen, without opening them one by one.
  • External services: it integrates with Uptime Robot, NodePing, Site24x7 and Better Uptime. You pick the one you prefer and manage it from MainWP.

And what you should know before deciding: it doesn't work on its own. It is a MainWP extension, so you need the MainWP Dashboard with your sites already connected. It also requires an API Key from one of the supported services; without that key it has nothing to work with. Since the integration goes through those providers, the monitoring data is subject to each one's privacy policy.

Different email alerts for each site

You can customize email notifications site by site. In an agency this matters: the person who runs the online store is rarely the one who looks after the company blog, and everyone should receive only what concerns them. In e-commerce every minute of downtime is a lost sale, so it matters more that the alert quickly reaches the right person than having plenty of alerts sent around without criteria.

Common questions about Advanced Uptime Monitor Extension

How often does it check my sites?

Every 5 minutes, 24 hours a day. If it detects an outage, it runs additional checks over the following 3 minutes and then alerts you.

Can I use it without MainWP?

No. It is an extension built for the MainWP Dashboard and monitors the child sites you have connected to it.

Which monitoring services does it work with?

With Uptime Robot, NodePing, Site24x7 and Better Uptime. You need an API Key from at least one of them.

Can I change who receives the alerts depending on the site?

Yes, notification emails can be customized for each site.

Without an API Key from your monitoring service there is nothing to activate

Before you start, open an account with the service you choose (Uptime Robot, NodePing, Site24x7 or Better Uptime) and generate its API Key. Also have your MainWP Dashboard ready with the child sites added. With both in place, you connect the extension to your account and set who receives the alerts for each site. Try it first with a couple of websites to see how the alerts arrive and adjust the recipients before rolling it out to your whole portfolio.
