About Affiliate Egg Pro
The price on your affiliate page is a copy
You publish a roundup with five products and their prices. A month later, one of those stores changed its price and another ran out of stock, and your page still shows what it showed then. The visitor clicks, sees a different figure in the store and stops trusting what you write.
On an affiliate page, the displayed price is a copy stored on your site, and how fresh it is depends on how often you decide to refresh it and on what each store allows.
Affiliate Egg reads the title, price, image and stock of a store from the product URL, saves them in your own database and updates them in the background on the schedule you set. Because the data lives on your site, the visitor does not wait for the source store to respond.
How each product is imported and displayed
- Import by URL: you paste the address of a product or of a category or search page, and the import can be in bulk.
- Automatic affiliate links: with any network that supports deep links, such as Awin, CJ, Impact or Skimlinks, you paste the link template once and every product URL becomes your affiliate link.
- Five templates: product grid, top-N ranked list, single product box, inline pick and price comparison of one product across several stores.
- Block settings: store, template, number of products, sort order (by price, for example), rating, button and button label.
- Gutenberg block and shortcodes: the block inserts or creates a storefront from the editor, and shortcodes still work for classic editing.
A recommendations page from a category, to test
One possible setup: a recommendations page using the top-products list template sorted by price, fed by importing a store category page. It is a combination of features you should test with your own stores before publishing, because not all of them can be read the same way.
For each store it is worth checking that the data reads correctly and that your network's link comes out right. If a store blocks automated access, the recommendation is to add products by direct URL and relax the update frequency.
Stores that cannot be read and separate pieces
The plugin reads most modern stores from their structured data. Stores that hide that data need a dedicated parser or a custom one, and there is no guarantee that it works with every store or captures every field in each one.
Amazon has its own dedicated parser, but the recommendation is to use the Amazon API module of Content Egg, because reading the page can get your IP blocked. The keyword search and multi-merchant comparison features depend on Content Egg, which is a separate plugin. For stores that block automated access there are optional scraping services, such as ScraperAPI or Crawlbase. In addition, each affiliate program must approve you before links earn commissions.
First steps with a store link
No API key is needed to build a site with the plugin. You need your affiliate ID on each network and the approval of each program.
- Install the plugin with the WordPress installer and activate it.
- Paste the link of a product or of a store category or search page.
- Choose a template and insert the block or the shortcode.
- Add your affiliate ID, which is appended to the links automatically.
- Set the update schedule for prices and stock.
Affiliate plugins to compare
If what you need is keyword search and comparison across several merchants, look at Content Egg Pro. If you work only with Amazon, check AAWP.
