About Affiliate Forms For Gravity Forms

The affiliate form is a single one and has to serve every profile

You want to recruit bloggers, video channels and a couple of agencies, and each group has different details you want to know before approving them. The temptation is to build one form per profile. That is not possible here: the add-on supports a single affiliate registration form.

Because there is only one form, the questions for all your profiles have to fit in it, so it pays to decide which ones truly serve your approval decision.

Affiliate Forms for Gravity Forms replaces the standard AffiliateWP registration with a form built in Gravity Forms. You reorder fields by dragging, mark the required ones and label them in your own words. Everything the applicant submits is visible to you when you review the application.

A Gravity Forms form that registers affiliates

  • Regular Gravity Forms fields plus a group of its own called AffiliateWP Fields, with three new types: username, promotion method and payment email.
  • Only the email field is required. The rest is up to you.
  • Automatic username: if you do not add that field, it is created from the affiliate's email.
  • Automatic password: if you do not add the field, one is generated automatically.
  • Email tag: on each field you can enable "Create AffiliateWP email tag" to use its value in any AffiliateWP email.
  • Mailing lists: with the Gravity Forms mailing list add-ons you can send your affiliates to your list.

What you see when approving an applicant

If you require affiliate approval, everything the applicant submitted appears on the review screen, including custom fields, and also in the Gravity Forms entry. Later you can view their original submission at any time from Affiliates, Edit Affiliate.

An extended form example includes website, promotion method, password, custom fields and terms of use. It is a combination of fields, not a fixed template: test it on your site before publishing it.

Restrictions of the registration form

  • One affiliate registration form per site.
  • Do not combine it with the Gravity Forms User Registration add-on: it causes a conflict during registration.
  • Without an email field, the form shows an error at the top.
  • Without a password field, the affiliate signs in using the reset password link.
  • The confirmation text sent by notification only appears if you insert the form with the Add Form button or a Gravity Forms block, not with the affiliate shortcodes.
  • A logged-in user who is not yet an affiliate sees email and username as read-only, and no password field.

How to turn it on and what it needs

It needs AffiliateWP and Gravity Forms installed on the same site. To get it running:

  1. Create or edit a form in Gravity Forms and add, at a minimum, the email field.
  2. Under Form Settings, Form Options, tick the "AffiliateWP registration" checkbox.
  3. In AffiliateWP, Settings, Affiliates, enable "Allow affiliate registration"; otherwise the form does not display.
  4. Insert the form in a page or use the [affiliate_area] or [affiliate_registration] shortcodes, which replace AffiliateWP's standard form.

Programs and add-ons to compare

The affiliate program this add-on extends is AffiliateWP. If you are looking for another affiliate program, look at Easy Affiliate. There is also Gravity Forms User Registration, which you must not use alongside this add-on.
