When the WordPress search returns the wrong thing
The search that ships with WordPress reloads the page, sorts results as best it can and cannot tell one category from another. Visitors type, see a list that is no use to them and leave. The more content you have (products, documents, forums, users), the more obvious it gets. Ajax Search Pro replaces that bar with a live search: results appear as people type, with an image when there is one, and you decide what is searched and how it is ordered.
People who use a site's search usually know what they want, far more than those who browse the menu. That is why this box deserves more care than any banner on the homepage.
Ajax Search Pro depending on what your visitor is looking for
Shop with products
WooCommerce and other commerce plugins store their products as custom post types, and the search includes them. You can build filters by product categories or custom fields, with checkboxes, dropdowns or radio buttons. There is also a range filter with two numeric fields, designed for prices.
Site with catalogs, manuals or reports in files
It can index and search inside the content of PDF, CSV, TXT, RTF, Office documents, Excel and PowerPoint files. If you want PDF thumbnails in the results, the server needs ImageMagick and it has to be configured.
Community with forums or profiles
It returns BuddyPress users, groups and activity, and bbPress forums, topics and replies, as well as posts, pages, categories and terms from your own taxonomies.
Site built with a page builder
The shortcodes and widgets work with Elementor, WPBakery, Visual Composer, Divi and Gutenberg. With Elementor it can act as a filter for the live posts and products widget, and you can build the results page with it.
Multisite network
You choose which sites in the network are included in each search and can query several at once.
How Ajax Search Pro fine-tunes what appears on screen
- Search logic: by default it uses OR to return more results; if you need stricter results, you change it with one click.
- Index table: an alternative to the standard search that gives more relevant results, can index shortcode content (useful with page builders) and eases the load on high-traffic sites.
- Relevance: a fully configurable panel of relevance options, with more than 400 options in total in the admin panel.
- Typing aids: autocomplete and Google suggestions (the language can be changed), highlighting of the searched word in the color you choose, and a compact mode that hides the bar behind a magnifier icon.
- Settings for the visitor: checkboxes to search for an exact match or to include and exclude content types and categories.
- Design: four layouts (vertical, horizontal, Polaroid and isotopic), more than 60 predefined styles, SVG icons of your own or uploaded by you, and RTL site support.
To measure results it includes statistics on the most searched terms, a query performance tracker, Google Analytics integration and caching to reduce database queries. The settings of a search can be exported and imported between sites.

Does it replace my theme's search bar? Yes, you choose which search is displayed in its place, and it can also replace the standard results page.
Does it work with any theme? It does not depend on the theme, so it is not tied to a specific one.
Can it handle a large database? It works with more than 25,000 records; speed depends mainly on your server.
Does it show images that are not on my server? Yes. It can take them from the featured image, the content, the excerpt or a custom field.
Does it work on mobile? Yes, it works on Android and iOS.
It does not live-filter archive pages
Live filtering of archive pages is not supported. If you want your shop categories to refine without reloading, check in the demo whether the behavior fits what you need.
