About Auto Update Cart for WooCommerce

The customer changes the quantity and the cart keeps the old one

In the WooCommerce cart, changing a 1 to a 3 does nothing until a separate button is pressed. Many people don't notice it, especially on mobile, and go on to pay with the old quantity. Then come the email, the phone call or the return for an order that «isn't what I entered».

If you sell products bought in repeated units (consumables, boxes, restocking supplies), your customers change the quantity almost every time. As far as they are concerned, the change is done. The fault is not theirs, it lies in an interface that demands a step nobody expects. Auto Update Cart for WooCommerce removes that step: when the customer changes the quantity, the cart updates by itself and the total reflects what they see in the field.

One single setting: how long it waits before updating

The plugin has a single option: the delay between the moment the customer changes the quantity and the moment the cart is recalculated.

After that initial setting there is nothing else to configure or keep an eye on.

The Update Cart button stays on the page

The plugin does not replace the button: it stays where it was for other situations in which the cart needs updating. If the customer presses it before the delay has elapsed, the cart simply updates with the new quantity, with no conflict or double effect. It is a safety net for people who already have the habit of pressing it.

Quantity limits are set up with another tool

This plugin does one thing: it refreshes the cart when quantities change. Deciding which quantities are valid is another layer.

  • Already solved: updating the cart automatically when quantities change, with a delay you choose.
  • You will cover it with another plugin: minimums, maximums or purchase multiples per product.
  • You will do it by hand or with a professional: changing the look of the cart page or its texts.
  • To check in the demo: how it behaves with your theme's side cart or mini cart, if you use one.

What changes in a store with Auto Update Cart for WooCommerce

The effect is about friction, not new features. It avoids the moment when the customer discovers at checkout that the quantity is not the one they wanted. That shock is a classic cause of abandoned carts, as well as of annoyed customers writing to ask about an order with different quantities than expected.

Don't expect miracles in conversion: if your store's problem is price, shipping or trust, this doesn't touch it. It is a small fix for a very specific flaw.

Frequently asked questions before installing it

Does the Update Cart button disappear?

No. It stays on the page and works the same. If the customer presses it before the delay ends, the cart updates with the quantity entered.

Can I choose how long it takes to update?

Yes. It is the plugin's only setting: you set the delay from when the customer changes the quantity until the cart updates.

Can I use it to set minimum or maximum purchase amounts?

No. It only updates the cart. To limit quantities per product you need another plugin.

Does it need maintenance?

No. Once the initial delay is set, it keeps working with no further adjustments.

Does it work with my theme?

Normally yes if your cart uses the standard WooCommerce flow. If your theme heavily redesigns the cart or uses a side cart, try it in the demo first.
