It is the first thing that shows the moment you look at a form's figures. People arrive, start filling it in and abandon; and they do not abandon at random, they abandon at the field whose purpose they cannot see. The phone number when they already gave an email. The "company name" on a form for private individuals. The box asking how they heard about you.

A form is a negotiation: every piece of data you ask for has to be worth more than the cost of asking. And there is one cost hardly anybody measures: weight. A form builder loading hundreds of kilobytes across every page of the site slows down the route to the form, which is precisely the opposite of the intention. When it pays

If the form is your front door. In services, quotes and lead capture, every abandonment point you remove shows directly in the month's diary.

If speed matters to you. Once you have worked on the site's performance, dropping in a heavy form undoes part of that work.

If all you need is a simple contact form, almost any option will do and this is more tool than you will use.

About licensing and the GPL

The code is distributed under the GPL licence and its use is free. Updates, support and activation against the maker's servers are separate services contracted with them. They are not the same thing, and buying one is not buying the other.
