About Bookly Files (Add-on)
When the appointment depends on a document the client has at home
Some bookings can't be prepared blind: a photo of the wall you're going to quote, a previous report, a design to be tattooed, a document to review before the meeting. If the client sends it by email or WhatsApp, the file ends up far from the appointment and someone has to hunt for it right before starting. Bookly Files (Add-on) fills that gap: the client attaches the file in the Bookly booking form itself.
What Bookly Files does with the files that arrive
It adds a file upload button to the booking form.
- Several files per booking: the client can attach more than one, useful when several photos or documents are needed.
- Management in the booking details: you can view, add, update or delete the uploaded files.
- Allowed extensions: you define which formats are accepted, so you don't receive file types you can't open or don't want.
- Internal fields: you can create file fields visible only in the Bookly backend, for example to store a document of your own linked to the appointment without the client seeing it.
An add-on that doesn't work alone: Bookly PRO and Custom Fields
Bookly Files (Add-on) is not a standalone plugin. It needs Bookly PRO installed and active, plus the Bookly Custom Fields add-on. If you only use the basic version of Bookly or don't have Custom Fields, you won't be able to use it. Before deciding, count the full set of pieces you'll need, not just this add-on.
Nor is it a document manager: it is meant to collect files tied to a booking, not to organize a document library or to send files to the client.
Deciding whether adding file uploads to your bookings pays off
It's worth it if the file changes what you do at the appointment or how you prepare for it. If you only need text data (allergies, preferences, an address), Bookly's custom fields may be enough and there's no need to upload anything.
Can I use it without Bookly PRO?
No. It is an add-on that requires Bookly PRO and also Bookly Custom Fields, both installed and activated.
Can the client upload more than one file?
Yes, the form accepts several attached files per booking.
Can I limit which file types are accepted?
Yes, you can set the allowed extensions.
Can I review or change a file after the booking?
Yes, from the booking details you can view, add, update or delete the uploaded files.
Can I have a file field the client doesn't see?
Yes, you can create internal fields for files that only appear in the Bookly backend.
