About Bourz – Life & Entertainment Magazine Blog Theme

A lifestyle blog usually starts with three categories and ends up with a homepage that can't decide what to show first: the latest post, the most read, or the one you want to push this week. Bourz is a blog theme for life, entertainment and fashion that lets you decide that from the Customizer.

Bourz and the homepage problem every fashion blog shares

A fashion or culture blog lives on first impressions: someone arriving from Instagram or Bloglovin decides at a glance whether to stay. And almost nobody thinks about this at the start: the homepage that works with ten posts stops working with two hundred.

From day one to a blog with an identity: a walk through the Customizer

Imagine you are launching a fashion and film blog. Here is how the pieces fit:

  • Step 1, the homepage structure: you choose between one column, one column with a sidebar, two columns (with or without a sidebar), combinations of one and two columns, or three columns. All of them have a fullwidth alternative. If you publish long texts, one column with a sidebar reads better; for lots of visual material, two or three columns.
  • Step 2, the header: logo above the menu, below it, on the left, or logo next to a leaderboard-style ad space. If you plan to monetize with banners, that last option is already there.
  • Step 3, the slider: it can be fullwidth, placed among the posts or used as a cover, with three styles and more than 20 settings. Use it for the story you want to highlight, not to cram everything in.
  • Step 4, typography: more than 15 fonts, and you can combine up to 4 at once. There are ready-made pairs, such as Raleway with Playfair, or Palanquin with PT Serif (the default combination).

What your reader will see: post formats and listings

Bourz supports standard, gallery and video posts, plus aside and link. That lets you alternate a long feature with a gallery of looks or a trailer video without the blog looking messy.

Listings can be combined too: posts by category or tag, popular posts (by comments or views) and selected posts. A homepage with both "most read" and "our picks" helps someone who arrives for a single post discover others.

Frequently asked questions about Bourz

Is it suitable for an online shop?

It is not designed as a shop theme. It is a blog and magazine theme; if you need to sell, check in the demo how your catalog fits before deciding.

Can I show my Instagram?

The demo includes an Instagram strip and also social icons (19 are available). Check in the demo how the photo strip is set up.

What widgets does it include for the sidebar and footer?

Among those visible: recent comments, categories, tags, newsletter, social networks and a "latest trends" area that supports 2, 3 or 4 columns.

What to know before choosing it

Bourz is designed for publishing editorial content at a steady pace. If your project is a corporate website or a portfolio, another theme will fit better. And if you won't publish regularly, so many homepage options will make little sense: a homepage with empty gaps shows more in such a visual theme.
