About Bulky - Bulk Edit Products for WooCommerce Premium
Bulk editing can also break eight hundred products at once
Changing the price of one product in WooCommerce takes a minute. Changing eight hundred, raising a category by ten per cent or fixing the weight of a whole shipping line takes an afternoon of opening and closing product pages. That is why people look for a bulk editor.
What few think about before using one: the same tool that multiplies the work multiplies the mistake. A wrong filter or a bad formula does not break one product, it breaks every product in the table. In Bulky, by VillaTheme, what matters most is not speed but the history that lets you go back.
Filtering properly before touching anything
The table only shows what the filter lets through, and that is where safety starts:
- Text: comma-separated IDs, title, content, excerpt, slug or SKU, with exact match, contains, does not include, begins, ends or empty.
- Ranges: date, regular and sale price, sale dates, stock, dimensions and weight.
- Classification: product type, status, stock status, featured, downloadable, author, visibility, categories with or without subcategories, tags and global attributes.
- Variations, which load with their own option.
A table you work like a spreadsheet
Editing happens in cells: select rows, columns or the whole table, copy and paste, drag to fill, sort, find and replace, duplicate products and undo. You can limit the columns to the fields you are going to touch.
It reaches more than forty product fields, from prices and stock to categories, gallery, attributes, cross-sells, downloads and shipping class, plus columns for cost of goods and for GTIN, UPC, EAN or ISBN. It also edits custom meta fields, including those added by other plugins.
And it does not stop at products: it edits more than thirty order properties, more than twenty coupon properties and reviews, which can be filtered by product.
The history, and what to know before saving
Every edit is recorded and an earlier change can be restored. It is the safety net that makes working with hundreds of rows at once reasonable.
The server sets a limit. Saving many fields at once can hit the PHP max_input_vars setting; the plugin warns when it is reached. If you hit it, try fewer products per page.
It does not import CSV or XML files. You work on the table inside the admin, although it accepts pasted data. If your supplier sends a whole file every month, an importer is a better fit.
A backup before your first bulk edit
It needs WooCommerce, WordPress 5.0 or higher and PHP 7.4 or higher. It is compatible with HPOS, WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.0. Its PHP 8.1 compatibility was checked alongside WooCommerce 9.2.3.
- Back up the database before the first big change.
- Filter until the table shows only the products you want to change.
- Keep visible only the columns you are going to edit.
- Try the change on a few rows, save and check it in the shop before applying it to the rest.
When the changes come in a file
If new prices arrive in a CSV, XML or Excel file from the supplier, WP All Import Pro for WooCommerce imports those files and decides, row by row, whether the product already exists or is new. Bulky fits better with changes you decide yourself inside the shop.
Variations, orders and meta fields
Does it edit the variations of a variable product?
Yes, by turning on the load variations option in the filter.
Can I undo a change that is already saved?
Yes, from the history, which records edits and lets you restore earlier ones.
Does it work for orders and coupons?
Yes, it edits more than thirty order properties and more than twenty coupon properties, with their meta data.
Does it reach fields added by other plugins?
Yes, it edits custom meta fields, including those from third-party plugins.
Why aren't all my changes being saved?
It may be the server max_input_vars limit. Reduce the products per page or ask your host to raise it.
