About Code Snippets Pro
Code Snippets Pro: fewer plugins for a single function
Pasting code into your theme's functions.php is scary: one misplaced semicolon and the site goes blank, and if you change theme, that code gets left behind. Child themes fix part of the problem, but they are awkward to maintain and worse to debug.
Code Snippets Pro moves that code into the WordPress dashboard, where each snippet is switched on and off like a light switch. And there is something almost nobody tells you: many plugins you install for a single function (removing comments, tweaking a form, hiding an element) are, deep down, a snippet with a wrapper around it. Each one adds another screen and another thing to keep an eye on. With this plugin you can gather those small functions in one place.
PHP, CSS, JavaScript and HTML without touching the theme
You store PHP, CSS, JavaScript and HTML snippets without modifying the theme, the child theme or other plugins. Each snippet is activated separately, which is handy for trying a new function and turning it off if something fails.
With reusable conditions you decide when and where each piece of code runs, instead of having it run on every page. There is also a library of community-submitted snippets as a starting point for common functions.
Revisions, timing and scanning on every save
- Revisions: every save is kept as a version. You compare them side by side, step through each change and restore the one that worked. You can choose how many to keep per snippet or switch them off for those that don't need them.
- Timing: if you turn on tracking, every PHP snippet is timed as it runs (last run, maximum and moving average). Slow ones are flagged in the table, and the numbers reset when you change the code.
- Scanning: on save, PHP is checked for risky patterns such as eval(). Each finding is rated high, medium or low and shows the line. If there is nothing to report, the snippet gets a secure badge.
AI Agent and cloud sync
With the AI Agent you describe what you want, it proposes a plan, you refine or approve it, and then it builds the snippet. It arrives inactive so you can read the code before running it. If you want more accurate answers, you can share your library and the site environment; your cloud credential never leaves your server.
The cloud connection is for backing up, syncing snippets across sites, grouping them in bundles, collaborating with your team and deploying them straight to your sites. It makes the most sense if you maintain several sites with the same functions.
Security warnings block nothing: the final review is yours
Scanning gives advice and never stops a save. You decide what gets activated, and faulty PHP can still break your site.
- Already solved: storing and organizing code outside the theme, turning it on and off, restoring earlier versions, detecting risky patterns and spotting slow snippets.
- You cover it: understanding the code before activating it, including code generated by AI or downloaded from the community library.
- You cover it: testing delicate changes on a copy or with a recent backup.
- You cover it: if you need a complex function with settings screens for a client, a custom plugin or a professional is a better choice. Here you store and control code; you don't build interfaces.
Frequently asked questions
Is the code lost if I change theme?
No. Snippets don't depend on the theme, so they are still there when you switch. What you should check is that the code doesn't refer to something specific to the previous theme.
Do I need to know how to code?
To get started with the community library or the AI Agent you don't need to write code, but you should be able to read it. A snippet you don't understand shouldn't go on a live site.
Does it work for CSS and JavaScript, or only PHP?
It works for PHP, CSS, JavaScript and HTML.
How do I know if a snippet is slowing down my site?
Turn on tracking: PHP snippets are timed and slow ones show up flagged in the table.
