A cookie banner is not a privacy policy
Putting a cookie notice on a website seems like an afternoon's job, until someone asks which cookies the site actually installs, which ones load before the visitor accepts, and where their decision is recorded. That is where many small business websites fall short: they have a banner, but nobody knows what is behind it.
Complianz Privacy Suite Premium is a plugin built for that behind-the-scenes work: managing visitor consent on a WordPress site and helping you adapt it to privacy rules in different countries.
How Complianz manages consent
The banner the visitor sees lets them accept, deny or open their preferences to choose by category. The categories it handles are these:
- Functional: always active, because they are needed for the service to work.
- Preferences: store settings the user has not explicitly requested.
- Statistics: statistical use, including anonymous use.
- Marketing: advertising profiles and tracking across sites.
It also lets them withdraw consent later, something many improvised banners forget.
The setup wizard and different countries
Configuration is done with a step-by-step wizard, which is what users who have tried it highlight most: they describe it as simple to follow, even compared with other cookie plugins. If your site gets visitors from several countries, you want a plugin geared to privacy rules in different regions and not just European ones, because the same site may need to treat a visitor from the European Union differently from one elsewhere.
It is developed by Complianz BV, a company based in Groningen (Netherlands) that is part of iubenda, and there is also a Shopify version, which is a separate product.
What to decide before relying on Complianz
A plugin helps you configure and document, but it does not replace someone who knows your business. What counts is that your answers in the wizard reflect what your site really does: if you later install another analytics or advertising tool, you need to review it again.
Does it guarantee legal compliance?
No. It gives you tools and a guided process, but compliance depends on how you use your site and your real data. If you handle sensitive data, consult a professional.
Does it work if I have an online store?
On WordPress, yes, it is a general consent plugin. If your store is on Shopify, you need the specific app, not this plugin.
Is it hard to set up?
It is done with a guided wizard and user reviews describe it as easy. Even so, set aside time to review what your site actually loads.
Is it useful for a site with visitors from several countries?
It is one of its starting points, as it targets privacy rules in several regions. Check in the settings that the ones that affect you are enabled.
