A fixed price on everything is convenient for you, but it does not always match what the customer wants to pay: a donation has no rate, a gift card depends on who receives it, and some customers want to pay more for an extra. With stock WooCommerce, each of those situations ends up as a separate product per amount or an external form. Custom Price for WooCommerce PRO lets the customer type the price on the product page itself.
A real walkthrough: a donation campaign with Custom Price
Imagine a charity that wants to raise funds from its shop. Here is how the process goes:
- You create a regular product in WooCommerce and use it to explain where the money goes. The product description tells the cause; the plugin adds the amount field.
- You fill in the labels in the settings: the price field text, the suggested price text, the minimum text and the maximum text. They are optional: you can leave them as they are or change them.
- You set the limits. You can define a minimum and a maximum price, and also hide them if you do not want them visible on the page.
- You suggest an amount. The suggested amount appears already typed in the field, so anyone who does not want to think about it just adds to cart.
- You change the button. The Add to cart text can be modified on specific products and in the shop catalog, for example to say something more fitting for a donation.
Everything you configure is shown on the product page. The customer sees the field, types an amount and continues through the WooCommerce checkout as usual.

Adjust the minimum and the maximum to your case; the plugin does not decide for you which amounts make sense.

What to know before opening up the price
The plugin changes how a product's price is set, nothing more. It is not a donation gateway and does not handle tax receipts, fundraising campaigns or goal tracking: you have to solve that with other tools. Nor does it replace a discount system or quantity-based pricing rules. If you want the price to change based on cart or user conditions, that is a different kind of plugin. And for gift cards with a PDF you need Flexible PDF Coupons separately.
