About Divi Blog Extras

Archive pages are the front page nobody designs

People arriving at your blog from Google rarely land on the home page: they end up on a category, a tag or a single post. And those listing pages tend to be the most neglected part of a site: the same chronological list for everything, no visual hierarchy and no clear way to jump to another topic. Divi Blog Extras is an extension for Divi that adds a blog module built precisely for those listings.

If you publish regularly, what decides whether someone stays to read a second piece is not each individual post, but how the whole looks when they open a category.

Divi Blog Extras: masonry, slider and archive layouts

Its features revolve around showing your posts in ways other than the standard list:

  • Its own blog module: placed and adjusted from Divi's visual builder like any other module, with several blog layouts to choose from.
  • Masonry layout: cards fit into a grid according to their height. It helps when your featured images don't all share the same proportions and you don't want to crop them.
  • Blog slider: a carousel of posts to highlight content on the home page or at the top of a section.
  • Layouts for category archives: they give each topic of your blog a page that looks polished, instead of the generic listing.

Divi Blog Extras lives inside Divi, not on its own

It is an extension, not a theme or a complete blog. It needs Divi installed and is handled from its builder. If your site uses another page builder, it won't work for you.

It also doesn't write content, manage the SEO of your posts or send newsletters. It changes how what you already publish is presented. If your posts lack a good featured image or clear excerpts, no grid layout will fix that.

If your site runs on an old version of Divi, test it first on a copy of the site to see how it behaves with your setup.

Is Divi Blog Extras worth it if you already have Divi's blog module?

It makes sense if your blog has several categories with their own identity, if you want a masonry grid or a slider, or if you're tired of dressing up the standard listing with CSS. It makes little sense if you publish rarely and a simple list is enough.

Do I need to know how to code?

Not to use it: it is configured from Divi's visual builder.

Does it work with any theme?

It is made for Divi. If you use another theme without Divi's builder, it isn't the right choice.

Can I use it in Theme Builder archive templates?

Check in the demo whether the module behaves well inside an archive template before basing your design on it.

Is it useful for a store?

Its focus is the blog and its archives. It is not a product catalog tool.
