About dList – WordPress Theme for Business Directory Listing

An empty directory charges nobody, and dList starts there

Building a business directory usually stalls at two points: filling it with listings before you have visitors, and designing pages without depending on a developer. And there is something important: in a directory the visitor does not pay, the listed business does, and no business pays to appear on an empty site.

dList is a directory theme that works together with the Directorist plugin. To fill the catalog it includes a CSV importer that lets you upload thousands of listings and map each column to a listing field.

Pages are designed with Elementor on the front-end, with more than 38 custom drag and drop widgets, seeing your changes as you make them. The single listing page is configurable: you enable or disable sections, add an image slider, related listings and more than 20 sidebar widgets.

Five ways to charge the businesses in your directory

This is the real reason to choose a directory theme over a generic one: monetization is built in from the start.

  • Paid packages: each submission package offers different benefits.
  • Claim a listing: you charge the owner of a business already in your directory to verify it as theirs.
  • Featured listings: the business pays to sit at the top, with ranking among featured ones if there are many.
  • Pay per submission: you restrict sign-ups and charge for each published listing.
  • Subscriptions: recurring income when the business renews its package.

Payment goes through a built-in checkout that supports Stripe, PayPal and local bank transfer, with a recurring payment option. You can also schedule when submitted listings expire, which gives your packages a real renewal date.

Search, maps and messages so visitors find and get in touch

A business only renews if its listing brings contacts. That is why what the visitor sees matters:

  • Advanced filters: custom fields, tags, price range, category and location, with a search widget offering 14 filters.
  • Geolocation: nearby listings and radius distance search.
  • Maps: Google Maps or OpenStreetMap, the latter without needing an API key.
  • Private messaging: the visitor writes to the business owner from the site itself.
  • Star reviews, which the owner can approve or reject, opening hours by time zone, customizable badges and saved favorites even without logging in.

There is also a private directory (sections visible only to certain users), social login with Google and Facebook, reCAPTCHA against spam, RTL support and translation of every theme element. If you show reviews, moderate them: fake ones are a legal and reputation problem.

Is dList right for you if you have not yet chosen a plugin or a builder?

It is a theme that needs the Directorist plugin to work, and its pages are built with Elementor. If you prefer another directory plugin or another page builder, this is not your theme. Nor is it a generic corporate or real estate theme: its strength is business listings, even if you use it for a specific niche.

Does it work for restaurant reservations, medical appointments or rentals?

It includes a booking system for restaurants, appointments, services, events and rentals. Check in the demo what comes active out of the box and what depends on a Directorist add-on before promising it to your clients.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Design is visual with Elementor.

Can I migrate an existing directory?

Yes, if you can export it to CSV: the importer maps each column to the listing fields.

Does it work with a WooCommerce store?

Yes, the design includes WooCommerce integration, with shop, cart and checkout pages adapted to the theme.

Is there a demo to try?

Yes, it includes one-click demo import so you can start from a finished design.
