A movie and TV catalogue that fills itself
Building a streaming site on WordPress does not fail because of the player. It fails because of the catalogue. Every title needs a synopsis, cast, director, genres, rating, poster and backdrop, and multiplied by a thousand titles that is months of work nobody does by hand.
DooPlay clears that bottleneck with its metadata importer: you search for the title and it pulls all of that from an external service, in whichever language you choose, posters and backdrops included. What used to be typing becomes confirming.
How content is structured
It handles movies, TV shows, seasons and episodes as separate but related content types. That matters: a series is not a list of loose videos, and if the theme does not understand the hierarchy you end up assembling it by hand with categories and links.
Video links
This is the feature that saves the most time in the long run. With auto embed you configure your video servers once, using placeholder identifiers, and from then on a change applies across the whole catalogue. The day a server goes down or you switch provider, you are not editing a thousand entries: you change the setting and that is it.
Each title accepts multiple links with their quality and language, in four kinds: streaming, download, torrent and purchase. The player shows them with language flags and lets users report the ones that are broken, which is the only realistic way to keep a large catalogue clean.
What the visitor does
- Create an account and build favourites and watched lists.
- Rate titles.
- Request the ones that are missing, which also tells you what to add next.
- Have a public profile.
Performance
It ships persistent caching and its own indexed table for user lists, which is where these sites choke as they grow. In version 2.5.7 title pages went from around 30 database queries down to one.
Administration
Eighteen settings sections: layout, sliders, featured content, player behaviour, comments, email, advertising and SEO. It includes structured data and database cleanup and maintenance tools.
It ships in English, Spanish, French, German and Turkish, with editable translation files for adding others.
Requirements
PHP 8.1 or higher, WordPress 7.0 or higher, MySQL 5.6 or MariaDB 10.1, and 128 MB of PHP memory minimum, with 256 MB recommended for bulk imports. It needs outbound HTTPS for the metadata service.

No. DooPlay is the catalogue and the player; the videos live on whichever servers you configure.

No, the metadata importer brings them along with cast, genres, ratings and images, in the language you choose.
