About Download Monitor Email Notification
Every download is a signal, but nobody sees it unless you're told
You upload a PDF, a guide or an installer, and all you see afterwards is a counter going up. You don't know when it was downloaded, whether it happened right after you emailed your list, or whether someone who just left their email is already waiting for a reply. Download Monitor Email Notification fixes that: it sends you an email every time a visitor downloads one of your files.
The idea behind it is simple: a download is the moment someone raises their hand. If you find out a week later while looking at statistics, the interest has already gone cold. If the alert reaches you right away, you can act while it is still alive.
What Download Monitor Email Notification does with each alert
Once the extension is installed, by default you receive one email for every download of all your files.
- Global or per-file alerts: you can leave notifications on for everything or turn them on only for the downloads you care about.
- Multiple recipients: you can enter more than one email address so the alert reaches several people.
- Compatibility with the lock extensions: it works with all Download Monitor lock extensions, so you can react instantly when someone, for example, has entered their email through Email Lock.

If you give away a resource in exchange for an email
With a guide or template behind a form, the alert lets you know the moment someone has gone through it. It helps if you want to write to that person while they still remember what they asked for.
If you have a team behind you
With several destination addresses, the alert can reach more than one person on your team with no manual forwarding.
If your download catalog is large
Receiving an email for every download on a high-traffic site ends up being noise. Turn on notifications only for the files that really matter to you: the ones that lead to a sale or a contact.
It needs Download Monitor to work
It is an extension, not a standalone plugin: without Download Monitor installed it has nothing to watch. Nor is it an email marketing tool: it alerts you that a download happened, it doesn't send emails to the visitor or manage lists, sequences or campaigns. If you want to capture emails before the download, that is what the lock extensions do, and this one simply alerts you when it happens.

Will I get an email for every download from day one?
Yes. After installing the extension, the default behavior is to alert you about all downloads. Afterwards you can limit it to specific files.
Can I receive the alerts at more than one email address?
Yes, the extension lets you set several destination addresses.

Does it tell me who downloaded the file?
