About Email Verification for WooCommerce Pro

Accounts that never buy and mess up your numbers

WooCommerce lets anyone register with any address, whether it is spelled correctly, misspelled or made up. The cost shows up in three places: your marketing reports, your support queue and your refund rate. Bots reach the cart and never buy, so your conversion rate looks worse than it is and you end up tweaking the store to fix a problem that does not exist.

Email Verification for WooCommerce Pro forces people to confirm their email before letting them through. That way, your new-user and conversion figures start to reflect real people.

Where you place the gate in Email Verification for WooCommerce Pro

You decide at which point verification is required, and you can combine several:

  • Checkout: nobody pays without having confirmed their email.
  • Cart access: people can browse, but not move forward.
  • Product pages: useful for members-only catalogs.
  • Specific URLs: for example a wholesale section.
  • Categories or tags: to protect only certain products.

At each gate the customer sees a configurable message, and unverified attempts are logged. A wholesale store, for example, can hide prices until the email is confirmed without asking for a full application form.

One email or two, and what happens to people who never verify

There are two sending modes. In standalone mode, the verification email goes out separately and the WooCommerce welcome email is held until confirmation. In combined mode, the welcome email carries the verification link inside and only one message is sent. You can customize the subject, body and HTML template, and adjust the link expiry (30 minutes by default).

Scheduled account cleanup

For accounts that stay unverified you can leave them flagged, send a reminder, or delete them after a number of days. You adjust the grace period after signup (so you do not delete someone who just registered), the reminder schedule and the frequency of the deletion process, which runs in the background.

Who skips the gate

You can exempt entire roles, standard or custom, such as administrators, shop managers or wholesalers. People who sign up with Google, Facebook or Apple are treated as verified, which works with Nextend Social Login, WooCommerce Social Login by SkyVerge and Woodmart's social login.

A verified email does not stop a bot with a real mailbox

Verifying only confirms that the address exists and that someone can open it, nothing more. It helps to be clear about the split:

  • It solves: accounts with made-up or misspelled addresses, automated signups that never open the email, checking verified status in the users table, and verifying, resending or unverifying in bulk.
  • It solves: asking for verification again when a user changes their email, and verifying users who already existed.
  • It is up to you: defending against stolen-card testing at the payment gateway. This gate helps keep those bots from reaching payment, but it does not replace your processor's anti-fraud tools.
  • It is up to you: making sure the emails reach the inbox. If your WordPress emails land in spam, legitimate customers will not verify and will drop off.
  • It is up to you: choosing the gate carefully. Blocking checkout is the usual choice, but blocking product pages can stop real visitors.

Questions before activating it

Does it work with multilingual stores?

It is compatible with WPML and Polylang, so it can be used on multilingual stores.

Can I use it with my email template plugin?

It supports HTML templates with placeholders and is compatible with Yaymail. If you use another template plugin, check in the demo how the email looks.

Does it verify the customers I already have?

Yes, it can also verify existing users, and from the users table you can verify them, unverify them or resend the link in bulk.

Will it slow down the store?

It is built to be HPOS-ready and to work with caching and CDN plugins such as WP Rocket, LiteSpeed or Cloudflare, and account cleanup runs in the background.
