About Enhancer for WooCommerce Subscriptions

Selling a physical product subscription looks like recurring revenue, but with plain WooCommerce Subscriptions there are leaks you don't see until you check the numbers: the customer who subscribes to get the discount and cancels before renewing, the charge that fails because nobody gave a heads-up, the monthly shipment you have to process by hand. Enhancer for WooCommerce Subscriptions is an add-on that tackles those leaks one by one.

A coffee subscription shop, step by step with Enhancer for WooCommerce Subscriptions

Imagine you sell whole-bean coffee with monthly delivery. Here is how the plugin shares the work:

  • Offer the subscription without duplicating products. In WooCommerce Subscriptions the customer can only subscribe to products created as subscriptions, so to allow a one-time purchase too you would have to maintain two listings. With this plugin, the page of a simple or variable product shows a "Subscribe now" checkbox before the add to cart button. By default it is a one-time purchase; if they tick it, they choose how often they want to receive it.
  • Subscribe a whole cart. The customer adds three different bags of coffee and, on the cart page, ticks the checkbox to turn everything into a single subscription.
  • Stop the discount hunter. Many people subscribe to pay the reduced price, receive the first order and cancel before renewing. The cancellation delay hides the cancel button for the number of days you set from the start; when the wait ends, the button appears.
  • Prevent last-minute cancellations. You can block cancellation for a number of days before each renewal, when the order is already being prepared. The customer can cancel up to that cut-off date; after it, cancelling is only possible at the following renewal, and the cycle repeats.
  • Charge the renewal properly. With automatic renewals the charge is attempted on the due date and, by default, the customer gets no notice. If they lack funds, the renewal fails. The automatic renewal reminder is sent as far ahead as you choose so they can check their payment method.
  • Ship on its own schedule. The separate shipping cycle is set on each subscription product and the customer receives an email when the shipping order is processed, so you don't have to track it by hand.

Raising the price for people already subscribed

With the standard WooCommerce Subscriptions settings, a price change only affects new orders: existing subscribers keep paying the old rate until they cancel or it expires. This plugin lets existing subscribers pay the current price. If a customer paid $10 a month and you raise it to $15, they receive an email telling them the new amount will apply at their next renewal. It is a revenue lever, but also a source of friction: think carefully about whether applying it to everyone is worth it.

Reminders for people who renew by hand

Customers who choose manual renewal only receive an email once the date has already passed, and their subscription goes on hold until they pay. The plugin adds a manual renewal reminder so they can pay before the renewal date, and an expiry reminder.

It needs WooCommerce Subscriptions to work

It is not a standalone solution: it adds features to WooCommerce Subscriptions and does nothing without that extension. Nor does it replace a payment gateway or guarantee that a charge will go through: the reminder only gives the customer a chance to get ready. If you use cancellation blocks, make sure the terms you show customers are clear and comply with consumer regulations in your country.
