About Event Calendar WD

An outdated calendar scares people off more than having no calendar

Publishing events on a page usually ends up as a list nobody looks after: past dates still showing, addresses without a map and every weekly activity copied by hand. Anyone who runs classes, talks, concerts or activities at a venue knows this: visitors don't explore your site, they look for what's on this weekend and leave if they can't see it right away.

Event Calendar WD gathers events into calendars, with no limit on events or calendars, and adapts to desktop, tablet and mobile. What it saves you is maintenance: you create the event once and the agenda takes care of whatever repeats.

Seven views so every visitor finds their date

Not everyone searches the same way, and the plugin covers that with seven views:

  • Month, week, day and four days, for people who think in specific dates.
  • List and posterboard, for people who just want to see what comes next.
  • Map, for people who decide based on where it takes place.

You can change the look and content of the events so the calendar doesn't look bolted onto your site, and show a calendar widget in your sidebars. Your visitors can share each event on social media, the cheapest way for an activity to reach people who don't know your site.

Venues, organizers and repeats: where Event Calendar WD saves you work

Recurring events support any repeat rate. If you teach a class every Tuesday or run a workshop every two weeks, you don't need to duplicate entries or remember to create them.

Each event can carry its venue and organizer, with the location shown through the Google Maps integration. That helps when you schedule at several places or with several people. Categories and tags let you sort the agenda by type of activity so visitors don't have to go through everything.

Event Calendar WD for selling tickets? It depends on the extensions

Although it sits in the bookings category, the base plugin is an event calendar, not a booking system. Ticket sales, event management from the frontend by users, the upcoming events widget, custom fields, import and export, subscriptions, export to Google Calendar, iCal and Outlook, the embed code to show the calendar on other sites, filters, the countdown and the connection with Google Calendar or iCal are offered as separate extensions. Before you build your project, confirm which ones you need.

Can I charge for tickets with the calendar?

Not with the base plugin: ticket sales are an extension.

Can my users add their own events?

Only with the frontend management extension. Without it, you create the events yourself.

Does it work for events that repeat every week?

Yes, recurring events accept any repeat rate.

Can I show where each event takes place?

Yes: each event can carry a venue and an organizer, and the plugin integrates with Google Maps.
