About Event Landing Page WordPress Theme for Conference Marketing – Aleb

On event day you work with what you asked at sign-up

Your conference is two days away and you need to know who eats gluten-free, which company each attendee comes from and which workshop they will attend. If the form only asked for name and email, you have to write to everyone and chase answers. The list you run the event with is decided weeks earlier, when you choose the registration fields.

Aleb is a WordPress theme for conferences and events, with a one-page or multi-page design. Besides speakers, schedule and countdown, its Ovatheme Events plugin adds its own registration: free or through PayPal, with extra fields and CSV export. That is why the form deserves more attention than the header.

Designing the Aleb registration with that list in mind

Fields are defined in the settings of each form, with a specific syntax. It accepts text, textarea, email, URL, number, date, dropdown, checkbox, radio and message.

  • Mind the syntax: if it is written incorrectly, the form fails.
  • Review what is required: checkboxes and radio buttons do not support required validation.
  • Watch the payments: in dropdowns used for PayPal, the values must be numbers.
  • Test the whole journey: send a registration of your own and check what arrives.

After each registration, the theme gives you this:

  • Separate lists: free and PayPal registrations appear in different lists in the admin.
  • Totals: calculated from price and quantity.
  • Confirmation email: the template is editable, with a notice to the admin and to several recipients.
  • CSV export: of one or several fields, such as email, ticket and price.
  • reCAPTCHA: available for the forms.

You can also take payment through Eventbrite. In that case, check where the attendee list ends up before choosing that route.

The event page, piece by piece

  • WPBakery Page Builder included: more than 30 event elements, such as speakers, sponsors, pricing and maps.
  • Schedule: organized with parent and child categories and displayed with its own element.
  • Countdown: with configurable end date, time zone and format.
  • More sections: speaker profiles, gallery, testimonials and slideshow.
  • Design: wide or boxed, unlimited colors and Google Fonts.
  • Compatibility: WooCommerce, WPML, Contact Form 7 and MailChimp, with .po and .mo files for translation.

Capacity and access control in Aleb

Among its features there is no capacity control and no check-in at the door. If you sell limited places, you will have to watch the number some other way, and access is handled with another tool or with the exported list.

The theme is built with WPBakery and is not optimized for Gutenberg. To change the Google Maps key or the home page you will go to the Customizer and the WordPress settings, so not everything is edited from the builder.

Installing Aleb and publishing the registration

The package includes theme, child theme, plugin, demo data and documentation. The way to get started:

  1. Upload the events.zip file under Appearance, Themes, and activate it.
  2. Install the required plugins.
  3. Import the demo and replace its data with that of your event.
  4. Choose the home page under Settings, Reading, and set up the menus.
  5. Create the form with the fields you will need on event day.
  6. Place the Register Form element or the events_registerform shortcode.

Event themes to compare with Aleb

If you prefer to sell tickets as shop products, Exhibz uses the Eventin plugin on WooCommerce and is built with Elementor. For a professional conference, ITConf brings together speakers, schedule and sales with WooCommerce.
