About Examiner Magazine Theme
A magazine homepage is not a list of posts
Many editorial blogs start with a theme that sorts articles by date and stops there: the best of the week gets buried, ads go wherever they fit and the homepage looks like just another post. Examiner Magazine Theme treats the homepage as a product of its own, built with widgets.
The homepage widgets of Examiner Magazine Theme, and where it falls short
The homepage is assembled from content blocks that you choose and arrange:
- Slider and Super Slider: they highlight posts at the top; the slider can show the category and hide the date.
- Ticker: a headline strip, with an option to show trending articles.
- TV Ajax: a video widget for a TV-style section.
- Blogroll 2 and 3, Newsroll, big and huge featured images: different ways to list posts; several support a Load More button, auto load or pagination.
- Trending and most commented: to push what already works.
You can create unlimited alternative homepages, change colors, fonts (there is a font library) and widget title style, and disable the last floating widget in the sidebar.
Limits: the theme is managed with widgets, not with the block editor, for which it is not optimized. It is also an editorial theme: it is compatible with bbPress, BuddyPress, WooCommerce and WPML, but its strength is the magazine, not the store or the community.
Common questions before choosing Examiner
Does it work for right-to-left languages?
Yes, it includes RTL support, and it has a translation panel with fields for the review system.
Does it clash with my SEO plugin?
It detects whether you use an SEO plugin and disables its internal SEO and Facebook tags to avoid duplicates.
Can I run advertising?
Yes. There are spaces between the header and the body, between the body and the footer, above the footer and at the end of the article, plus an ad widget that works with Google AdSense.
What if I have a forum or social network?
It is listed as compatible with bbPress and BuddyPress, as well as Facebook.
How Examiner behaves on mobile and on the article page
The layout is responsive. The mobile menu includes search and can show subcategories; on tablet, if there are many items, it scrolls sideways. You can choose whether the site loads progressively or appears once loading is complete.
On the article you can show or hide the floating share buttons (including LinkedIn), the author and date, and the view counter. Embedded videos adapt to the screen.
Build the homepage widget by widget and check it on mobile
Before publishing, decide which three things you want at the top of the homepage and which ones go lower. Then place the ads carefully, because too many spaces together compete with your own headlines. Finally, open the homepage on a phone: check in the demo how the widgets are ordered before replicating them.
