A coming soon page that looks good and captures nobody
When a site isn't ready yet, the temptation is to put a logo on a plain background with a "we'll be back soon". Visitors see it, leave and never return, because nothing gives them a reason to. A waiting page only works if it asks for something in return: a date to follow, a bar showing how much is left and somewhere to leave an email address.
Expedition is a one-page theme for Elementor designed for that moment before launch. It includes a countdown and a progress bar, plus Mailchimp subscription, so the wait ends in a contact list and not in lost visits.
Four background types and 90+ effects in Expedition
The page can be built with four background layouts:
- Plain color.
- A single image.
- An image slideshow.
- Background video, from YouTube, Vimeo or HTML5.
On top of any of them you can turn on one of the 90+ WebGL animated effects (shooting stars, aurora, fireworks, rain, fog, snow, particles, waves, mouse trail and many more), and each effect can be adjusted.
The rest of the equipment follows the same line: image or text logo, multi-level menu, social share links, a form with Contact Form 7, Google Fonts and Typekit typography, Font Awesome icons, child theme support and a .pot translation file. It is also compatible with WooCommerce, Elementor Pro and Bootstrap.
What to know before choosing it
It is built on Elementor, so you need that page builder installed. The images and videos from the demo are not included. And its strength is the waiting page: although it has blog styles, don't choose it thinking of building a full site with it.
Questions before choosing Expedition
- Can I use a background video? Yes, from YouTube, Vimeo or an HTML5 file.
- Is it good for collecting emails? It has Mailchimp subscription, so you will need your own list there.
- Do the demo photos and videos come with it? No. You will have to provide your own.
- Does it look good on mobile? The design is responsive. Open the demo on your phone and check the effect you want to use.
- Can I use my own fonts? It supports Google Fonts and Typekit, with advanced typography control.
The demo images don't come with it: prepare yours before importing
The theme offers one-click demo installation, but the demo images and videos are not included. Before starting, have your logo, the background image or video, the launch date and the text that will go with the countdown at hand.
Choose a single background effect and test it with your real content. If you are going to touch code, work from a child theme so you don't lose your changes.
