About Fire Push – WordPress HTML Web Push Notifications

You have a store or a blog that publishes new things, but visitors leave and don't come back until they remember you. Email gets lost among hundreds of messages and social networks depend on an algorithm. Fire Push tries to close that gap: it sends direct alerts to the visitor's browser, even when they are no longer on your site.

A real case: you launch a product and want people to know today

Picture a WooCommerce store. Here is the walkthrough with Fire Push, step by step.

  • Step 1, getting permission. The visitor arrives and sees your own popup asking them to accept notifications. You can limit it to certain pages, and if they close the popup it counts as a decline, so it won't keep nagging them. If you disable the popup, the browser shows its standard permission prompt.
  • Step 2, welcoming them. You can prepare a welcome message for anyone who has just subscribed.
  • Step 3, publishing. You create the product and the plugin fires the notification automatically, with no need to write anything separately. It uses the featured image or the product image as the icon, and you can customize the title, text, icon and link.
  • Step 4, reaching everyone. If the visitor is browsing, they get a live notification. If they are not on your site, they get a background one.
  • Step 5, measuring. You can enable click tracking to see whether the alert gets opened and also check the total number of subscribers.

Which events trigger an alert

It isn't only for news. Fire Push can notify you when:

  • A post is published or updated, including custom post types.
  • A product or an order is created.
  • A product's price drops.
  • A product is low on stock.
  • A custom deal or landing page is created.
  • A WooCommerce order changes status.

The last two are the most useful for selling: a lower price or low stock are real reasons to come back, and they don't feel like spam.

Fire Push also sends SMS, but with a condition

Besides web alerts, it can send SMS through ClickSend. For WooCommerce customers it uses the billing phone number. You need your own account with that service, and remember that contacting people by SMS requires their consent.

It needs a Firebase account and it is not a replacement for email

To work, you need a Google account with Firebase (free). It must be set up before you send anything. And two things are worth keeping in mind:

  • You only reach people who accepted the permission in their browser. Those who block it are left out, and the plugin can remove failed subscribers who have blocked notifications.
  • It is not a campaign tool with advanced segmentation: its triggers are site events, not marketing automation flows.

Frequently asked questions about Fire Push

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes. It alerts on new products, orders, price drops, low stock and order status changes.

Can I use it with custom post types?

Yes, both on publish and on update.

Will people who aren't on my site receive the alert?

Yes, through background notifications, as long as they accepted the permission.

Can it handle many subscribers?

It is designed for that: it stores subscribers and notifications in their own tables, uses token caching and splits large sends into batches. Still, test with your real volume.
