About Foodland Pro
A restaurant often ends up with the website a friend built: the menu is a photo of a PDF, the dish of the day changes and nobody updates it, and the customer searching on a phone while walking down the street gives up before finding the address. Foodland Pro is a theme designed for that specific case, with homepage sections for promotions and staff.
The menu decides, not the logo
People who visit a restaurant website want to know three things: what is served, how much it costs and how to get there. Everything else is filler. That is why it matters more that the theme lays out the menu well than any homepage effect. What follows is the typical path of someone building a site with Foodland Pro.
Step one: build the homepage from the customizer
Everything is set up in the WordPress customizer, with a real-time preview before you publish. Here you choose the site layout, colors, font family, logo and a custom header image. The homepage is made of these sections:
- Featured slider.
- Promotional headline.
- Today Special.
- Featured content and a blog section on the homepage.
- Staff section.
- Social links.
There is also a widget area on the homepage and advanced custom widgets that come with the theme.
Step two: loading the menu and the Jetpack limit
For menus, Foodland Pro relies on Jetpack: the food menu content type and infinite scroll depend on that plugin. If you do not want to install Jetpack, do not count on that part. It is a practical limit, because the menu is exactly what a restaurant will use most. In addition, the theme does not include online reservations or home delivery orders: if you need them, you will have to add another plugin yourself.
