About FooEvents Express Check-in

The queue at the door is where a well-sold event can go wrong. You have collected payments and sent the emails, and suddenly someone with a list in hand is hunting for names while people pile up behind. With FooEvents Express Check-in, entry is handled from the browser, with nothing to install on your team's devices.

The door is where you can tell whether an event is well organized

Event organizers usually pour their effort into selling and promoting, and leave accreditation for the last day. But attendees judge the organization by what they experience in the first few minutes: how long they wait and whether anyone can find them. This plugin focuses on that stretch: validating tickets against the real data of your tickets, without opening each record one by one.

A walk through the door with FooEvents Express Check-in

Before opening: install it on top of FooEvents

It is an extension, not a standalone product: it needs the main FooEvents for WooCommerce plugin installed and activated. If you are not yet selling your tickets on that base, it is no use on its own.

First arrival: look the person up

When someone does not bring their ticket or it will not scan, your team searches the live data on your site. It helps with the attendee who bought for five others and cannot remember who is who.

When the queue grows: scanner and automatic check-in

Connect a USB or Bluetooth barcode reader to a computer, scan the ticket and skip the typing. You can turn on automatic check-in so the attendee is registered as the ticket is scanned. With a big crowd it is the difference between one click per person and none.

With staff already spread out: links and QR

You can add a secure check-in link to ticket emails: staff open it from a phone, tablet or computer and register the attendee. It also works with ticket QR codes. It runs on any device with a browser.

To avoid gatecrashers: ticket status

On validation, the ticket status is checked, so you can spot a ticket that has already been used and reduce the risk of duplicate entries. It helps prevent mistakes, but it does not replace the judgment of the person at the door.

Questions from people about to use it

Do I need the FooEvents check-in apps?

No. This extension runs in the browser and suits teams that do not want to install apps. It can also be the backup plan if you cannot use them at your event.

Does any scanner work?

It works with USB and Bluetooth barcode readers. Before the event, test your specific model with a real ticket.

Can I use it from a phone?

Yes, it works on phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

Does it work without WooCommerce?

No. It depends on the main FooEvents for WooCommerce plugin, which in turn runs on WooCommerce.

What to test before the day of the event

It is a lightweight tool: it registers entries and searches for attendees, but it is not a capacity control system or an accreditation system with badge printing. Run a test with two or three real tickets, the scanner and your team's devices, and check that the flow you chose (search, scan or link) works with the venue's connection.
