Formidable Forms Bootstrap Forms Addon: the form inherits your site's visual language
This add-on applies Bootstrap styling to all the forms you have already created with Formidable Forms. It is not a standalone plugin: it adds a style layer to a form builder that you need to have installed.
A real walkthrough: from an unpolished form to one that fits the page
Imagine you have a contact form and a quote request form on a Bootstrap site. The walkthrough would be this:
- Step 1, you create or open your form in Formidable Forms. The add-on does not replace the builder, it works on top of it. If you don't yet have Formidable Forms with the plan that includes this add-on, you won't have anywhere to activate it.
- Step 2, you turn on Bootstrap styling. The style applies to all your Formidable forms, so there is no need to go one by one.
- Step 3, you adjust the text and number fields. You get extra options to prepend or append a label to the field.
- Step 4, you check the result on the page. Look at the validation messages, the submit buttons and the mobile appearance inside your own theme, because the final result depends on how Bootstrap loads on your site.
One limit to keep in mind: the add-on provides styling, not logic. If you need calculations, payments or conditional fields, that depends on the features of Formidable Forms itself, not on this add-on.
Bootstrap or the visual styler: when each one suits you
Formidable also offers its own visual form styler, and this add-on is the alternative for those who prefer Bootstrap. With either one you can style fields, field groups, validation messages, input types and submit buttons without creating a dedicated stylesheet.
Choose Bootstrap if
- Your theme or your project already uses Bootstrap and you want consistency.
- You work with clients and prefer a familiar class system.
Choose the visual styler if
- Your site doesn't use Bootstrap and you don't want to depend on it.
