About Formidable Forms Stripe Addon

Charging for an order without sending the customer to another page

Many small businesses sell by order: cakes, catering, t-shirts, studio sessions, donations. The usual routine is to receive the order in one form and collect payment somewhere else, with bank transfers, payment links or a whole online store you did not need. Every jump is a chance for the customer to give up halfway.

If you sell by order, your catalog is really a form, and payment should live inside it. Formidable Forms Stripe Addon turns payment into one more field: the customer fills in the form, pays and finishes on your page, styled to match your brand and without going through an external checkout.

It is an add-on and does not work alone: it needs Formidable Forms installed and a connected Stripe account. Nor does it aim to replace a full online store; it is designed for forms that take payments.

From the bakery template to the first payment, step by step

1. Start from a template

There are templates for bakery orders, catering, takeout food, t-shirts, donations, raffle entries or recording studio bookings. You edit them with the drag and drop builder, so you never start from a blank screen.

2. Calculate the total

With Formidable's calculations, the amount changes according to what the customer chooses (quantities, sizes, extras). Check in the demo how the total responds with your own fields before connecting payment.

3. Add the payment field and connect Stripe

You connect your account once and place the payment field in a new form or in one you already have. You can accept cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App, Klarna, iDEAL and ACH, among others. Check in your Stripe account which ones you can enable.

4. Let them choose: one-time payment or monthly plan

A single form supports several payment actions, and conditional logic picks the right one based on the customer's answer. That way you offer "Pay once" and "Monthly plan" side by side and Stripe processes the matching charge.

5. Subscriptions with a free trial

You set the amount, the interval (monthly, yearly or custom) and, if you want, a trial period. Customers manage their payment methods from the Stripe portal, and to show them their active subscriptions you have to build a Formidable View, since it does not appear on its own.

Common questions before setting up payments

  • Do I need WooCommerce? No. Payment is taken from the form itself, with no cart and no redirect.
  • Does it work for donations? Yes: donors pick a preset amount or type their own, for a one-time or monthly gift.
  • Can I charge only when the customer chooses card? Yes, with conditional logic you can show and charge the payment only depending on the option chosen.
  • Does it support strong authentication? Payments run on Stripe's encrypted infrastructure, with support for 3D Secure and SCA. That does not exempt you from checking your own business obligations.
  • Do I need to know how to code? No, everything is set up from the visual builder.

Link payments and your own checkout: what returning customers notice

A returning customer can pay in one click thanks to Link by Stripe, which saves their payment details.

Because everything happens on your page, the form inherits your site's style and the customer does not see an abrupt design change at the moment of paying. What remains up to you: defining the order fields well, running a test payment in Stripe and checking in the demo that the flow fits your business.
