About GeoDirectory Advanced Search Filters
Plenty of data in every listing and a search that doesn't use it
Whoever builds a directory spends weeks creating fields: pet-friendly, disabled access, free wifi. Then a visitor arrives, types a word and gets a list that ignores all of that. A field that can't be filtered is data nobody will find, and the person leaves for another site that lets them narrow things down.
GeoDirectory Advanced Search Filters extends the search widget that comes with GeoDirectory so those fields are actually useful. It is an add-on: it doesn't replace the base plugin, it completes it.
Autocomplete in Search and Near, and filters on your own fields
Ajax autocomplete works in both search fields. Search For looks for keywords in the listing title, text, categories and tags. Near queries locations and returns results sorted by distance (for example, hotels near Chicago).

- Filter by any custom field you have added to your listings.
That last one is what changes a directory. If you have created modifiers such as pet-friendly, disabled access or free wifi, the visitor combines them in a single query: pet-friendly hotels with disabled access within 10 miles.

The one who decides by requirements
In accommodation and service businesses, people don't search for a name, they search for a combination: what they need and how far away it is. With field and radius filters, the list shrinks to listings that really match, and you save visitors from opening ten that don't fit.
The one who browses several content types
The integration with the custom post types add-on lets you filter by the custom fields of any type you have created.
The one searching on the go
With proximity search, results are sorted by how close they are. The geolocation features require the visitor to authorize sharing their location.
Common questions before setting up the search
Does it work without GeoDirectory? No. It extends the GeoDirectory search widget and needs the base plugin.
Can I filter by fields I created myself? Yes, by any custom field in your listings. The more useful fields you fill in, the more filters you can offer.
What does the Search For field look at? Keywords in the listing title, content, categories and tags.
Geolocation needs Location Manager
The geolocation features depend on GeoDirectory's Location Manager add-on. Filtering by the fields of your own post types requires the custom post types add-on. And the filters only offer what your listings contain: if a piece of data isn't a field, it can't be filtered.
