Visitors to a travel website arrive with a destination or a budget, rarely both
Building the website of a travel agency or tour operator often ends with a pretty home page, trip pages nobody can find and bookings handled through email. Getaway starts from a different idea: separate destinations from tours and let visitors come in through whichever path they prefer. Someone dreaming of a specific place browses by destination; someone with a fixed budget wants to filter by price. If your site only serves one of them, you lose the other.
Tours and destinations as their own content, with three ways to list them
The theme creates two custom content types: tours and destinations. Each has its own single template, and destinations also have their own listing. That saves you from improvising trip pages with loose pages and gives you a structure that holds up as you add more trips.
- Tour list in three layouts: standard, masonry and gallery.
- Tour carousel to highlight departures on the home page.
- Tour filter so visitors can narrow their search, price range included.
- Destinations grid for those who choose the place first.
There are also widgets to show tour categories and a tour list in your sidebars.
Tour booking with PayPal and a private area for travelers
Getaway includes a tour booking function and payment through PayPal. Visitors can register, log in (also with social networks) and check their user dashboard.
It is also compatible with WooCommerce and Contact Form 7, useful if you want to sell something extra (a guide, merchandise) or collect custom trip enquiries with a form.
Design with WPBakery, Slider Revolution and headers for every taste
Pages are built with WPBakery Page Builder, which comes with the theme, as does Slider Revolution for home pages with movement. There are sections with video backgrounds and parallax, a mega menu, a fullscreen menu, several headers (fixed, sticky, sticky only when scrolling up) and different logos for the normal, sticky and mobile header. Extra shortcodes include a customizable Google map, pricing tables, countdown, testimonials, team and calls to action.
You can import the demo content with one click and start from there, and the theme includes a child theme, is responsive, is translation ready and is compatible with WPML.
Is Getaway enough if you sell tours paid through PayPal?
Yes, if your product is tours and destinations and charging through PayPal works for you. If you need something else, check these limits first:
- Booking is designed for tours. It is not an engine for hotels, flights or rentals.
- The only payment method described is PayPal. For other gateways you would have to rely on WooCommerce.
- Check in the demo whether booking handles dates and limited places, something many operators consider essential.
- The demo photos are for presentation only: you will need to use your own images or buy them from a stock photo site.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The options panel and WPBakery let you build pages without touching code.
Can I run the site in several languages?
Yes, the theme is translation ready and compatible with WPML, which is a separate plugin.
Does it work for an agency with an online shop?
It is compatible with WooCommerce, so you can add a shop alongside the tours.
How do I start without building from scratch?
By importing the demo content with one click and replacing the texts and images with your own.
