About Gillion | Multi-Concept Blog/Magazine & Shop WordPress AMP Theme

Gillion for blogs and magazines that need readers to come back

Publishing articles is the easy part. The hard part is getting someone who reads one to return tomorrow. Whoever builds a magazine, a review blog or a lifestyle site competes for reading habit, not for a one-off visit. Gillion brings several tools built for that into the theme itself, without forcing you to add loose plugins.

Bookmarks, read time and view counter built in

  • Bookmarks: users log in and build their own read-later list with the articles they like most.
  • Read time: a clock icon shows how long each article takes to read.
  • View counter: shows how many times a post has been viewed, with no extra plugin.

Reviews with an overall score, pros and cons

If your site analyzes products, technology or restaurants, the review module lets you give an overall score, write a pros and cons list and add sliders to rate each factor separately (for example, quality, design or usefulness).

Six demos with their own editorial personality

  • Fashion: for brands, fashion magazines and trend sites.
  • Clean: minimalist, with lots of white space, social media integration and a read time indicator.
  • Personal: for niche blogs that put content first, with home page sliders, author's pick and a latest posts widget.
  • Foodie: for food blogs, restaurants and food reviews, with areas designed for advertising or affiliate marketing.
  • Tech: with a trending indicator, bookmarks and the review module.
  • Lifestyle: large images, a full-width gallery with your Instagram feed and latest versus popular posts widgets.

Build layouts without code: layouts, sliders and WPBakery

Posts can be displayed in an adaptive grid, a plain grid, a mixed layout and other variants. Open posts offer five styles, from full width for photography to left or right blocks, with or without a sidebar. For sliders there are predefined formats: carousel, boxed, full width, fancy and mosaic. If you need more freedom, the theme includes the WPBakery drag and drop builder, and Elementor is also mentioned. In addition, a dedicated options panel in the WordPress dashboard lets you change many elements without touching code, and the theme is designed as a child theme so you can customize without modifying the base theme.

Email with MailChimp requires installing its plugin

Gillion integrates with MailChimp to capture subscribers, but the connection does not work on its own: the theme will ask you to activate the MailChimp plugin and you will have to enter your account details. The same goes for other parts of your project:

  • Already solved in the theme: bookmarks, read time, view counter, review module, post layouts, predefined sliders and options panel.
  • You cover it with another plugin: sending emails and subscriber lists (MailChimp and its account).
  • You cover it yourself: the texts, the photos and the editorial strategy. The demos are a structure, not content.
  • To check in the demo: if you need shop features, see exactly what it offers before planning your catalog.
