About Gillion | Multi-Concept Blog/Magazine & Shop WordPress AMP Theme
Gillion: a magazine built to bring readers back
A blog or online magazine usually tracks visits and forgets what really sustains the project: the people who come back. Someone who arrives from Google, reads one article and leaves won't return unless something gives them a reason. Gillion is a blog and magazine theme with several tools aimed at exactly that: saving articles for later, knowing how long they take to read and collecting emails.
It isn't designed for a single type of site. It comes with demos for fashion, food, tech, lifestyle and personal blogs, plus layouts, sliders and an options panel to adapt it without touching code.
Save for later, read time and view counter
These are small details that change how readers behave on your site:
- Bookmarking system: users log in and build a read-later list from the content they like most.
- Read time: a clock icon shows how long each article takes to read.
- View counter: shows how many times a post has been viewed, with no need for another plugin.
- Featured content blocks: depending on the demo, latest posts versus most popular widgets, Authors Pick or a trending slider.
Reviews with an overall score, pros and cons
If you review products, gadgets or restaurants, the review module lets you give an overall score, write a pros and cons list and use sliders to rate each factor separately. It is the centerpiece of the Tech demo. Use it with judgment: a score is only worth something if readers see that you sometimes fail what you review.
Demos, each with its own personality
Fashion targets fashion brands and magazines. Clean is minimalist, with social media integration and a read time indicator. Personal suits a niche blog that wants powerful sliders and an elegant look. Foodie brings MailChimp and placements designed for advertising or affiliate marketing. Tech combines a trending indicator, bookmarks and reviews. Lifestyle turns your Instagram feed into a full-screen-width gallery.
For customizing, there are post layouts (adaptive grid, plain grid, mixed), five open post styles (full width, or left and right blocks, with or without a sidebar) and predefined sliders: Carousel, Boxed, Full Width, Fancy and Mosaic. The theme is built as a child theme, so your changes stay separate from the parent theme.
Email with MailChimp requires installing its plugin
Gillion asks you to activate the MailChimp plugin and then connect your account. Here is what the theme already solves and what you'll have to cover:
- Already solved: bookmarks, read time, view counter, reviews, layouts and sliders.
- Already solved: an options panel with changes visible as you work.
- You cover it: the MailChimp plugin and your account, to collect subscribers.
- You cover it: custom page layouts, which rely on WPBakery or Elementor.
- You cover it: the content, the high-resolution photos that demos like Fashion or Lifestyle call for, and your advertising strategy.
- Check in the demo: if you plan to sell, make sure the catalog and cart fit what you need, because the theme is strongly content-oriented.
Frequently asked questions about Gillion
Do I need to know how to code?
No. The options panel lets you change many elements without code, and you can use the page builder for your own pages.
Which page builder does it use?
It works with WPBakery and with Elementor to create sections by dragging and dropping.
Is it useful for monetizing with ads or affiliate links?
The Foodie demo includes placements designed for advertising and affiliate marketing, and you can borrow that idea in other demos.
Does it work for a full online store?
Its strength is editorial content. If selling is your priority, review the demos and decide whether what they offer is enough.
