A portfolio and a blog in the same WordPress, not two systems glued together
F8 was born from a problem: its author spent years looking for a way to show his photos online and wanted two things, a portfolio section and a blog section inside the same CMS. The result is a theme that turns a WordPress site or blog into a photography or multimedia portfolio.
Whoever installs this lives off their work looking good and being found. So it pays to look less at decoration and more at how much control you have over thumbnails, the slideshow and the front page without touching code.
What F8 lets you adjust from its options page
Everything is managed from the theme options page, without editing files:
- Colors and fonts: changed there, no CSS knowledge needed.
- Front page categories: you choose which ones appear on the main page.
- Contact information: edited in the same panel.
- Slideshow height: adjustable from the same panel.
- Thumbnails: automatic or manual control.
It also includes built-in Galleria support, slideshows, multimedia support, Gravatars, grid-based CSS, SEO optimization and iPhone compatibility.
How it fits depending on who you are
Photographer who wants portfolio and blog together
This is the case it was designed for: galleries with Galleria and a category-based front page, with the blog on the same site.
Videographer or multimedia creator
The theme includes built-in multimedia support, so it is not limited to still photos. Before committing, check in the demo how the video you publish is displayed.
Someone who knows no CSS or PHP
Colors, fonts and front page categories are handled from the panel. For any change outside those controls you will have to touch the code.
Changing more than the panel allows requires CSS
The style options cover the basics. If you want to modify the design in depth, you need to write CSS and, depending on the case, edit the theme. Nor is it a theme designed for stores or bookings: it is a showcase for images and content.
