About Gravity Forms Partial Entries

Someone who abandons a form has already given you something

A long form loses people along the way and, by default, everything that person typed disappears when they close the tab. You only see completed submissions, so you don't know how many visitors entered their name and email and left just before the button.

Gravity Forms Partial Entries is an add-on that saves what the visitor fills in even if they never press submit. The idea behind it: in a form, abandonment is not silence, it's data. And sometimes it's a contact you could have followed up.

Saving only what is worth keeping: capture rules

Saving everything would give you a drawer full of junk: people who typed one letter and changed their mind. That's why Partial Entries lets you set rules with conditional logic, so only valuable partial entries are kept, for example those that already include a name and an email address.

  • Automatic capture: data is saved while the person types, with nothing required from them.
  • Capture rules: you decide which conditions a partial entry must meet to be kept.
  • Tracking dashboard: partial entries appear in the WordPress dashboard, with the fields that were filled in.

Where it matters most: stores, lead generation and long registrations

The clearest case is a form that works as a funnel. If you take payments or capture contacts with Gravity Forms, every abandonment is a half-made sale or opportunity. With the contact details in hand, you can follow up with a reminder or an offer.

In a lead generation form, the sales team receives contacts from people who never finished submitting. In multi-step applications or registrations, you can see how far each person got and write to them so they finish.

Seeing which fields are left half-filled also helps you fix the form itself: a field that asks too much, a confusing question or a step that isn't needed.

Deciding whether Partial Entries is worth it: limits and common questions

This add-on doesn't send recovery emails by itself and isn't an automatic marketing tool: it gives you the partial data, and the job of getting in touch is yours or that of other tools you connect. Nor is it a standalone plugin: it needs Gravity Forms installed and works on its forms. And since you are storing data from people who never submitted anything, think about how you disclose it in your privacy policy and what consent you need before writing to them.

Does it work without Gravity Forms?

No. It is an add-on and works only inside forms built with Gravity Forms.

Can I choose which abandoned forms are saved?

Yes. With conditional logic you define rules, for example saving only when a name and email are already there.

Where do I see the partial entries?

In the WordPress dashboard, where you see which fields were completed and where the drop-off happens.

Does it work for multi-step forms?

Yes, it is one of its main uses: recovering people who left a long application or registration half done.
