About Gravity Forms SendGrid

When the form works but the alert never arrives

A form can be submitted without errors, show the thank-you message and still leave you without the alert: the server's email gets filtered as spam or blocked and nobody notices. The visitor thinks they already wrote to you; you don't even know that request exists. On sites that live on inquiries, quotes, registrations or applications, that failure is silent and you pay for it in customers who never try again.

Gravity Forms SendGrid tackles the cause: instead of relying on your WordPress server's email, it sends notifications through SendGrid, a transactional email service built for messages that have to arrive.

Gravity Forms SendGrid: every notification goes out through the SendGrid API

It is an official Gravity Forms add-on. You connect your SendGrid account and enable sending on the forms you choose, new or existing. From then on, every notification goes out through the SendGrid API as soon as a submission comes in.

  • Admin alerts: the notice you or your team receive when someone fills in the form.
  • User confirmations: the email the person who submits the form receives.
  • Any form: once connected, you can send the notifications of the forms you decide through SendGrid.

Transactional email that handles the volume

SendGrid is geared to messages the recipient expects: payment confirmations, booking receipts, registration notices. And it scales: it works the same for a handful of notifications as for very high volumes, so you won't need to switch systems if the form fills up on a campaign day.

Email from the rest of the site needs Gravity SMTP

This add-on only handles form notifications. Here is how the work is split:

  • It solves: notifications from any Gravity Forms form through SendGrid, both admin alerts and user confirmations.
  • Another product solves: password resets, order confirmations and emails to WordPress users. That is what Gravity SMTP is for: it sends all of the site's email through SendGrid and shows what was sent, what is pending and what bounced.
  • You provide: the SendGrid account, plus the text, subject and recipients of each notification.
  • Outside its scope: newsletters and marketing campaigns; this is about alerts triggered by a form submission.

You need Gravity Forms installed, because this is an add-on and does not work on its own. Without Gravity SMTP, form alerts will go through SendGrid, but the rest of the site's email will keep going out through the server.

Questions before you connect it

Can I use it with forms I have already published?

Yes. You can sync new or existing forms with SendGrid, one form at a time.

Is it suitable for high-traffic forms?

Yes, SendGrid is designed for large-scale transactional sending, from a few notifications to millions of emails.

Do user confirmations arrive too?

Yes. Once connected, both admin alerts and user confirmations can go out through SendGrid.

Does it replace WordPress email across the whole site?

No. It only covers form notifications. For password resets, orders or other site emails you need Gravity SMTP.
