About Gravity Perks Advanced Save and Continue
Long forms that people abandon halfway
A twenty-field application, a detailed survey or a registration that asks for documents all have something in common: nobody fills them out in one sitting. If the visitor closes the tab, loses their connection or simply has to leave, the form is blank again and that lead probably never comes back. Gravity Perks Advanced Save and Continue extends the Save and Continue that Gravity Forms already includes so that progress saves itself and restores itself.
Whoever installs this usually runs a business where the form is the decisive moment: a job application, a complex quote request, a registration. There the problem isn't the form's design, but that asking for a lot in a single visit clashes with the real life of the person filling it in.
Saving and restoring without anyone pressing anything
The core of the plugin is two features that you turn on form by form:
- Auto-save: drafts are stored while the user types, with no button to remember.
- Auto-load: on return, the last saved draft is reloaded. If the last save was on page 2 of a multi-page form, the user resumes on page 2.
For visitors who are not logged in, a prior prompt appears where they accept or decline auto-saving, with a title, description and buttons you can word your own way. It is useful because continuous saving means keeping data before it is submitted, and it also lets someone on a shared computer say no. If that visitor logs in later, their drafts move to their account.
What to configure depending on who fills in your form
People who come back several times to the same application
Turn on auto-save and auto-load. This is the case of a long application the user completes in stages: each time they return, everything is as they left it.
People who submit the same kind of form many times
With draft management, each user sees their list, resumes one, deletes another or starts a new one. It suits repetitive procedures where several applications are prepared in parallel. The list can be shown above the form or on any page using a shortcode, for example in a customer dashboard or an account page.
Teams who contribute data at different times
A draft can be the meeting point for several people who complete parts of the same form. If you don't want other people's data slipping in, there is an option to disable draft sharing: anyone trying to open a draft that isn't theirs goes back to the empty form.
People who want to save without leaving the form
By default, pressing save takes you to a confirmation screen with the option to email yourself a link. You can show that confirmation below the form, so the user saves and keeps going. It works best with a simple confirmation message. You can also hide the classic save link if you prefer to rely only on auto-saving.
It needs Gravity Forms and doesn't save everything
It is a Gravity Forms add-on (perk): without that plugin it does nothing. When activated, the Gravity Forms Save and Continue settings move to their own tab inside the form settings. One specific limit: single file upload fields cannot be saved with Save and Continue. If your form depends on attachments, test how it behaves before publishing. It is also not a review or approval tool for submissions: it saves drafts, it does not manage validation workflows.

Can I turn on saving without auto-loading, or the other way round?
Yes, both features can be configured separately.
Can I change the text of the prompt and the drafts?
Yes. The title, description and button labels of the visitor prompt are editable, and the message shown when resuming a draft can also be customized.
Can I remove the start-a-new-draft link?
It is a setting covered in draft management. Check it in your test if your flow requires a single draft per user.
When it pays off and when it doesn't
It pays off if your forms are long, multi-page, or filled in by people who come back later. It adds almost nothing to a three-field contact form. If that is your case, the basic Save and Continue in Gravity Forms may be enough.
