About Gravity Perks Page Transitions

Every click on «Next» is a chance for them to leave

A multi-page form usually fails in the gaps between steps: the page reloads, the screen flickers, the visitor wonders whether anything was sent and closes the tab. People who build forms count fields, but they rarely measure what each step costs. Gravity Perks Page Transitions works right there: it adds animations between the pages of a Gravity Forms form and can move to the next page as soon as the last field is completed.

It is a Gravity Forms add-on, not a form builder on its own. You set it up from the form's own pagination settings, in the Perks tab, and each feature is turned on with one click.

Gravity Perks Page Transitions depending on the form you are building

Quizzes and surveys with one question per page

This is where it works best. If each page has a single field (a radio group, a drop down, a date), answering is enough to move on. You can hide the Next button so people only interact with the answers. It works with survey fields (Likert, rating), quiz fields and poll fields, as long as they are radio or drop down types.

Booking or request forms with several steps

Here it makes a long process feel light. You choose between two transition styles: slide (the next page comes in from the right and the previous one from the left) or fade. Both the progress bar and the page steps are animated to show where the person is. If a step needs the user to review it carefully, you can turn off auto-progression on that page only by adding a CSS class to its page field.

Forms where you don't want people to go back

You can hide just the Previous button so nobody returns to pages already completed. Keep in mind that, if a validation error appears when the last page is submitted, the person will still be sent back to the affected page.

Soft validation: moving on without submitting the page

With soft validation, the browser checks that required fields are not empty and moves to the next page without sending anything. Full validation and submission happen when the last page is submitted. It is enabled by default when you turn on transitions.

  • Transitions automatically enable AJAX mode on the form, because they need it to work.
  • If you use a drop down with auto-progression, set a placeholder so the person has to choose an option.
  • Alternative transition styles can be defined with a filter, but they may force you to adjust other features by hand.

Questions before you build the form

Does it work without Gravity Forms? No. It is an add-on for Gravity Forms and the form needs at least one page field.

Can I auto-advance with any field? No. It works with single line text with an input mask, radio, drop down, dates, single file upload, US-format phone, and with product, quantity, shipping, survey, quiz and poll fields in their radio or drop down variants.

What happens if a page has several fields? It is supported in any multi-page form, but it works better with one question per page. The page advances when the last field is completed.

Can I change the transition speed? Yes, with a code snippet, like other advanced adjustments.

Soft validation only detects empty fields

It checks that required fields are not blank, but it does not review the format: a badly typed email moves on without complaint. The error appears when the last page is submitted, and the person goes back to the first page with errors. That is why it suits simple quizzes and surveys better than forms with heavy validation or a lot of conditional logic. And if you need someone to correct a value on the spot, you may want to turn it off.
