About GravityView Maps Premium View
For anyone already collecting addresses with Gravity Forms who wants them searchable on a map
Publishing venues, offices or places in a table forces visitors to read addresses and work out distances in their heads. A map solves that, but only if the data is already well collected in the form.
GravityView Maps Premium View is a GravityView layout: it draws Gravity Forms entries on Google Maps. It suits you if you already work with both (or plan to) and want to build a locator or directory without writing code.
It is not for you in these cases:
- You don't use Gravity Forms: it is not a standalone mapping plugin, it starts from your form entries.
- You want a different map provider: what it offers is Google Maps.
- You expect bookings, payments or review management: it shows entries on a map and nothing more.
A map with a hundred pins in the same city helps nobody
Whoever builds a directory thinks about how to place the pins and forgets what happens once the directory works: the data grows and the map turns into an unreadable blob. That is why the most useful thing about this layout is how it handles the excess.
With marker clustering, the map stays clear at every zoom level.
What you can adjust in GravityView Maps Premium View
- Custom pin icons, based on a field's values or the user's choice.
Radius search is also among its features, designed to help visitors find nearby listings. Check in the demo how it works for your specific case.
Locators, directories and one caveat
It suits building a locator or geolocation directories similar to Zillow or Yelp.
The caveat: the layout only displays entries. The submission form, the approval step and any rating system are handled with Gravity Forms and GravityView, not with the map.
Questions before installing GravityView Maps Premium View
Do I need Gravity Forms?
Yes, in practice. It is a GravityView layout, and GravityView displays Gravity Forms entries.
Can it search by proximity?
It includes radius search among its features. Try it in the demo with an example similar to yours.
Can I change how the map looks?
Yes: you can customize the pin icons based on a field's values or the user's choice.
Does it cope with many records?
Marker clustering keeps the map clear as the data grows. Real performance also depends on your hosting and volume, so test with data similar to your final data.
