About Groundhogg - Tutor LMS

For anyone selling courses on Tutor LMS who loses track of the student after enrollment

A student enrolls, opens two lessons and vanishes. Meanwhile, your mailing list treats them the same as someone who finished the whole course. If that sounds familiar, this add-on connects Tutor LMS to the Groundhogg CRM so that what each student does inside the course changes what they receive next.

In the course business the sale closes at enrollment, but the next one (another course, a mentoring program, a renewal) is decided by what happened inside the lessons. And that information usually stays locked inside the LMS, never reaching your marketing.

It is not for you if:

  • You don't use Groundhogg: it is an add-on, it doesn't work on its own and it needs both Groundhogg and Tutor LMS installed.
  • You expect a dashboard with grades, progress percentages or certificates: all it does is apply or remove tags, nothing more.
  • You want it to send emails by itself: tags are the trigger, and you build the emails or messages in Groundhogg.

Groundhogg - Tutor LMS tags the student when they enroll and when they finish

When building a course you choose which tags are applied or removed when the contact registers for it, and which ones when they complete it.

A typical use: an active student tag on enrollment, removed on completion, so that whoever finishes leaves the reminders and enters another sequence, for example an offer for your next course.

A tag on the lesson where people get stuck

The most interesting part is in the lessons. You can apply or remove tags when the student completes specific lessons in a course, not just at the end. That lets you separate those who reached the key lesson from those who stopped at the introduction.

Think about where your audience tends to drop off: the lesson that requires action, the long module or the point where the content gets hard. Tagging there gives you two different groups to write to, each with a message that fits their situation.

Tags do nothing until you build the flow

A tag is just a mark on the contact. Its value appears when you use it in the Groundhogg flow editor to launch an automation, send emails or SMS, or trigger other automation tools in the CRM.

The more courses and lessons you tag, the more it pays to name your tags in an orderly way from the start, or you will end up with a list that is hard to manage.

Questions before connecting Tutor LMS to Groundhogg

Does it work without Groundhogg?

No. It is a Groundhogg extension for Tutor LMS, and you need both for it to make sense.

Can I tag by lesson or only by course?

Both: when registering for the course, when completing it and when completing specific lessons.

Does it email students on its own?

No. It applies or removes tags, and you decide in a Groundhogg flow what happens when each one is added or removed.

Can I remove a tag as well as add one?

Yes, you can choose to apply tags or remove them.
