About Homez – Real Estate WordPress Theme
A real estate portal is filled by other people's work
Building a listings portal usually ends the same way: owners and agents send photos and details by email or WhatsApp, you type them into the WordPress dashboard, and once you reach a hundred listings you can't keep up.
What almost nobody says before launching a portal: the bottleneck is not the design, but who writes each listing and who keeps it up to date. Homez is built around that idea: each advertiser manages their own listings, and the portal can charge for it.
How Homez handles a listing, from sign-up to publication
Step 1: the advertiser signs up
They register on the site (there is social login, reCAPTCHA v2 and a link to the terms and conditions on the form) and, from their own area, manage their profile, their password and their listings without touching the WordPress admin.
Step 2: they fill in their listing
Submission happens on the front end. Fields are defined with a custom field editor, so you decide what data each property type asks for. A listing supports features, attachments, an image gallery, video, a virtual tour, sub-properties, the EU energy certificate and custom units of measurement. With the review-before-publishing option, nothing goes live without your approval.
Step 3: they pay to publish
This is where the business is: a package system and paid listings that rely on WooCommerce, with a section for received transactions. Note: without WooCommerce installed and set up with its payment gateway, this part does not work. If your portal will be free, you have more machinery than you need; if you will charge, test the whole flow in the demo before deciding.
Questions before choosing Homez
Is it suitable for a small agency? Yes. It scales from an agency with a few properties to a large portal.
Do I need Elementor? The theme is built on Elementor and includes more than 50 widgets, plus a header builder and a footer builder. Revolution Slider is among its features.
Can it be translated? It is compatible with WPML and supports right-to-left languages.
Which maps does it use? Google Maps, Mapbox or OpenStreetMap.
Can I change how it behaves? Yes: everything is hooked into WordPress actions, so a developer can add or remove pieces.
What people searching for a home see in Homez
The visitor is what makes your portal useful, and the theme gives them buyer tools, not just a showcase:
- Listings in grid, list or half-map view, and five property detail layouts.
- Ajax search with advanced filters, a price slider and radius search.
- Saved searches, email alerts, favorites and property comparison.
- Mortgage calculator, Walkscore and Yelp support, multiple currencies, shortened prices and a printable listing.
There are also property ratings and private messages. If you enable ratings, review them: a portal with unmoderated opinions loses credibility fast.
Which portal Homez suits and which it falls short for
It performs when many people publish and you want to charge for it, or when you need a serious search with a map. If you only plan to show ten properties of your own, you will get more options than you use. Check in the demo how a listing looks on mobile with your real photos, because that is where it is decided whether an ad hooks people or not.
