About Hugo – CSSIgniter

When changing one banner means editing twenty pages

Building an online store doesn't end once the products are uploaded. What wears you down is maintenance: the strip with the shipping notice, the promotion block or the call to action that repeats on the home page, the categories and the information pages, and that someone has to change by hand every time the offer changes. Hugo, by CSS Igniter, is a WooCommerce theme designed so those pieces are designed once and reused.

Hugo – CSSIgniter: global sections, header and footer your way

The feature you'll notice most in a store is Global Sections: you design a section with the block editor or with Elementor and use it as many times as you like from the global sections system. It saves you from having the same promotion copied across half the site.

  • Header: color scheme, layout, typography and logo from the Customizer, with a real-time preview.
  • Footer: the same controls, and you can add links or important information for the shopper.
  • Blocks: it works with the WordPress blocks and with the GutenBee collection, no coding needed.
  • Elementor: it is optional. If you prefer drag and drop, the theme integrates with it.
  • Speed: it is developed with performance as a priority and to load fast.

Now, the limits. Hugo provides the look and the integration with the store, but WooCommerce is a separate plugin that you install yourself, and products, inventory, payment and checkout are set up in WooCommerce, not in the theme. Elementor doesn't come by default either: you only need it if you decide to use it.

Common questions before choosing Hugo

Do I need Elementor?

No. You can build the pages with the WordPress block editor. Elementor is an alternative if you find it more comfortable.

Can I use another page builder?

It's possible. The developer recommends Beaver Builder, Divi and Elementor.

Will it work with all my plugins?

It can't be guaranteed with all of them. Popular plugins from reliable developers usually work, but if your store depends on a specific one (bookings, payments, filters), test it before launch.

What do I need to get started?

A domain, a hosting account and WordPress installed. Then WooCommerce for the store side.

Your brand's colors and fonts without touching code

From the Customizer you can create your own color scheme and apply it to the whole theme, or fine tune it by area: top bar, header, footer and other sections. For typography you pick a font pair among the dozens of Google Fonts available and adjust the properties of the main sections. It helps when the store has to look like your brand and not like a template.

The demo imports in one click, but it isn't your store

Hugo includes one-click demo import: it replicates the sample site with its example content. It works as a starting point to see how the header, footer and global sections fit together. The prudent approach is to import it on a test installation, replace products, texts and images with your own, and redesign the global sections with your own promotions. Check in the demo whether the page layout suits the size of your catalog before committing to it.
