A personal blog nobody finds for lack of structure
Starting a personal blog often ends up with a messy homepage: posts with no clear category, an "about me" page tucked away and no way for readers to stay or follow you on social media. Identiz starts from a blog with an author's identity, where what matters is who writes and what they write about.
The demo shows it with an everyday-topics blog (family, hobbies, travel, work), which says a lot about the intended use: a diary with its own voice, not a magazine with dozens of editors. The people who get the most out of it write regularly about several topics and need each one to have its place.
Identiz headers, footers and post list layouts
The demo includes seven header styles and three footer styles, so you can change the first impression without touching code. For the post list it offers several ways to display entries:
- Classic, grid, masonry and justified: four ways to display the post list.
- Sidebar on the left, on the right or none: the sidebar works for subscription, search, tags and recent posts; without it, reading is cleaner.
It also includes a 404 error page, an "about me" page and numbered pagination for when the archive grows.
Posts with their own format: from quote to audio
A personal blog is rarely just text. Identiz covers standard and non-standard post formats: gallery, image, link, quote, video and audio. It works if you mix reflections, a podcast, a YouTube video or a phrase that struck you, and want each one to look different in the list.
To help readers follow you, the demo brings icons for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Vimeo, YouTube and Pinterest, a subscription block, featured posts, latest posts, a tag cloud and a search box. Check which networks really matter to you: some of those shown, like Google+, no longer exist and are best not displayed.
Deciding if Identiz fits you: limits and common questions
It is a theme designed for one author and their blog. Don't approach it as a store, a booking portal or a corporate site with many services: that is not what the demo shows. Before committing, open the demo on your phone and check that the header and list you choose read well.
Is it suitable for a blog with several topics?
The demo has categories such as family, hobbies, travel and work.
Can I choose between several headers?
There are seven header styles and three footer styles. Pick one and leave the rest aside.
Does it include appointment booking or a calendar?
It is not something the demo shows. If you need appointments, add a specific plugin and check that it works well with the theme.
Can I publish video and audio?
Yes, there are post formats for video and audio, as well as gallery, image, link and quote.
Is it good for a blog with a lot of posts?
The demo includes pagination, search, tags and featured posts, which are useful as the archive grows.
