About Import Shopify to WooCommerce
Moving from Shopify to WooCommerce without rebuilding the store by hand
Changing platforms usually means weeks of exporting CSV files, rebuilding categories, uploading images one by one and hoping old orders don't get lost. Import Shopify to WooCommerce automates that work: it connects to your Shopify store through the API key and moves the data straight into WooCommerce, without going through third-party servers.
People who migrate tend to think only about products, but what is hardest to redo afterwards is the data nobody remembers: the historical orders, coupons that are still valid, tax rates by province and shipping zones. This plugin treats that data as part of the migration, not as an extra.
Nine types of data you can choose one by one
You don't have to take everything. You can select what to import from these nine blocks:
- Store settings: title, admin email, address, country, timezone, weight unit and currency format.
- Shipping zones and methods.
- Taxes: name, rate, country, province and postcode.
- Pages and blogs: blogs with categories, tags and featured image.
- Coupons: amount, usage limit, expiry date and minimum amount.
- Customers: name, phone, company and address.
- Products: variations, gallery, SKU, stock, regular and sale price, weight and tags.
- Orders: payment and shipping method, totals, taxes, discount, line items, discount code, order number and fulfillment status.
Import only part of the catalog and repeat it when things change
Products are the most delicate part, and here the plugin gives you quite a lot of control. You can import by ID, upload the product CSV exported from Shopify, filter by product type or collection, or bring only products published before or after a date. You also choose the import order (by title, creation date or update date, ascending or descending) and the status they arrive with: published, draft or pending.
Categories are recreated as they were in Shopify, and if you prefer, you can put everything in a category of your own such as "imported from Shopify" to review it later. Images are downloaded in the background and, if you prefer, you can run that download later from Products. A progress bar shows how the import is going.
If your Shopify store stays live during the migration, it helps to know that you can import the whole store again: the plugin skips what was already imported and adds only the new products. For changes to products already imported there is also a manual update option.
Deciding if it fits: the Shopify plan, customers and other doubts
The most important limit affects customers: Shopify restricts access to personal data, and to import it your store must be on the Shopify plan or higher. Products, orders and the rest of the data don't have that condition. If you are on a lower plan, you can migrate everything except customers.
Also, the plugin moves data, not design: your store's look is not imported, so you will have to choose and set up a theme in WooCommerce separately. Nor does it replace a later review of taxes, shipping and orders before opening the store.
Is there a limit on products or orders?
There is no cap on the amount of data you can import.
Can I import only some products?
Yes: by ID, by CSV, by collection, by product type or by publication date.
Are categories lost?
No, the plugin creates the same categories you had in Shopify and assigns the products.
Can I repeat the import without duplicating products?
Yes, products already imported are skipped and only new ones are added.
