About Independent Analytics Pro
Stats you will actually open every week
Many WordPress sites have an analytics tool installed that nobody looks at: too many menus, oddly named metrics and a learning curve that eats the afternoon. The result is that decisions (what to write, where to advertise, which page to rework) are made by gut feeling.
Independent Analytics Pro starts from the opposite idea: answer the basic questions without taking a course. It works inside WordPress itself and starts recording visits as soon as it is installed, with no setup. It shows you your most viewed pages, the sites sending you visitors, countries and cities of origin and the split between mobile and desktop. That is the base; what the Pro version adds comes next.
Independent Analytics Pro: which campaign, click and form bring results
What sets this version apart is that it goes from counting visits to following the trail of what they produce:
- Campaigns: create campaign links and see the traffic, leads and sales each one generates.
- Forms: find out where your leads come from and which forms convert best.
- Clicks: record clicks on any link on your site.
- eCommerce: shows where your best customers come from.
- User journeys and real time: how people move around your site and how many people are on it right now.
You can also build an overview report with all your data in one place, open reports for an individual page or referrer and schedule email reports for yourself or your clients, which is handy if you manage other people's sites.
Measuring without cookies and with data in your own database
The plugin uses no cookies, saves no personal data and does not communicate with external servers: everything is created and stored in your database. To recognize returning visitors it generates a unique ID using a fingerprinting technique. This lets you consider dropping the cookie notice as far as this plugin is concerned, but first check that no other plugin or script on your site requires consent, and if you have doubts about the rules in your country, ask a professional.
On performance, it makes a single asynchronous request to the REST API of your own site, with no perceivable impact on loading. On storage, it takes about 200-300 MB per million sessions, and you can enable automatic purging to keep only one to three years of data.
Replace Google Analytics or run both side by side?
The main limit: you cannot import your Google Analytics history. The sensible approach is to run both at once for a few weeks or months (they do not conflict) and drop the old one when you trust the new numbers. It only works on WordPress, and if you use a caching plugin you must clear the cache once after installing so the script appears on all pages. On sites with a million visitors a month or more, the dashboard in the WordPress admin can be slower.
Do I need a cookie notice?
This plugin uses no cookies and stores no personal data, so it does not require one by itself. Check your other plugins and scripts before removing the banner.
Does it work on multisite?
Yes. Each subsite can activate it on its own and gets its own dashboard.
Will it slow down my site?
Not perceptibly: it makes a single asynchronous request to your own site, and the number of pages on the site does not affect report speed.
Will I lose data if I move from the free version to Pro?
No. You keep your existing data and tracking is not interrupted when you switch.
