The internal linking nobody maintains by hand
Internal linking is one of the few SEO factors entirely within your control and almost nobody does it well. The reason is simple: by the time you write article two hundred, you no longer remember which other twenty articles ought to link to it. And going back to add links into old content is work that is always left until next week.
Internal Link Juicer inverts the approach. Instead of placing links, you define keywords for each piece of content, and the plugin finds them across the site and creates the links itself. Old content starts linking to new content without you editing it.
How it works
Each post or page carries its own keyword list, entered from the editor itself. The plugin locates those terms across the rest of the site and links them to the target page. From then on it runs by itself.
What stops it becoming a disaster
An automatic linker with no brakes is worse than none at all: you end up with the same word linked fifteen times in one article and links inside headings. Which is why what matters here are the limits:
- Link limits per paragraph, and incoming and outgoing link limits per piece of content.
- Anchor text diversification, with intelligent management of the gap between occurrences.
- Exclusion of headlines, bold text and sets of HTML tags or shortcodes.
- Exclusion of specific areas within a piece of content.
- Whitelists and blacklists by post, page, category and tag.
Anchor diversification is the one that matters most for SEO: three hundred links with exactly the same anchor is a signal of manipulation, not of structure.
Differences between versions
The free version links posts and pages only. Pro adds custom fields and taxonomy terms, meaning categories and tags too, which on many sites are important destination pages.
Data and maintenance
It ships a statistics dashboard flagging pages with few links, which is exactly what needs fixing, plus filterable link reports. And it lets you import and export keywords from files or straight from Yoast SEO and RankMath, so work already done is not redone.
On performance: it uses a link index, so automatic linking does not mean processing all the content on every visit.
