A directory with hundreds of listings sinks if the theme is heavy
Anyone building a directory with reviews ends up with loaded pages: listings, filters, forms, ratings. If the theme also drags in a framework and dozens of scripts it doesn't use, the visitor arriving on mobile leaves before seeing the first listing. iReview starts from the opposite idea: it is a frameworkless theme, light and fast, built so that what weighs the most is the content and not the template.
Its design is clean and minimalist, with HTML5, CSS3 and a responsive layout. That fits how a directory is used: people come to compare, and comparing means reading. A sober background lets the content of each listing stand out instead of competing with it.
Two sidebars with whatever width you decide
In a directory the sidebar usually carries categories, filters or featured listings. iReview supports two sidebars, and each one can have the width you want. It also includes 40 widget areas, so you can place different blocks depending on the area of the site. Other useful pieces for navigation:
- Multilevel menu both horizontal and vertical, handy when categories have subcategories.
- Slideout menu for mobile devices.
- Scroll to top button, comfortable on long pages.
- Animate.css support, in case you want to add animations.
32 color styles and Google fonts already chosen
You don't have to start from scratch to change the look: there are 32 color styles in different variations and a selection of Google Web Fonts chosen in advance. If you want to go further, you can add your own styles and scripts from the theme parameters.
It is a simple, frameworkless theme: for changes those parameters don't cover, you will need your own CSS. Don't expect a drag-and-drop visual builder.
Choosing iReview if your directory runs on JReviews
iReview is fully compatible with JReviews for WordPress, a directory and reviews plugin that is a separate product. The theme provides the look and structure; the listings and reviews come from the plugin. If you plan to use another directory plugin, open the demo and check how its pages look before deciding.
Does it work as a directory on its own?
No. It is a theme: it defines design, menus, sidebars and styles. To have listings and reviews you need a directory plugin, and it is designed to work with JReviews.
Does it adapt to mobile?
Yes, the layout is responsive and includes a slideout menu for mobile.
Can I add my own CSS or scripts?
Yes, from the theme parameters.
How many widget areas does it have?
