A personal blog gets lost when nothing invites readers to the next post
Building a personal blog on a generic theme usually ends in a homepage identical to thousands of others: the reader arrives, reads one post and leaves because nothing pushes them to the next. Izzy is designed for personal, streamlined blogs, with a slightly unconventional look and code built so the site loads smoothly.
On a blog, the homepage is not a business card, it is the mechanism that decides whether someone reads a second piece. How your texts are ordered and linked matters more than how many ornaments the theme has.
Izzy: masonry or classic, the decision that changes your blog's character
It comes with two blog templates: masonry and classic. Choose according to what your content is like and how you want it to be read.

- Three post layouts: sidebar on the left, on the right or no sidebar.
- Full-width, archive, search, 404 error and redirect templates.
Colors, typefaces and formats so the blog sounds like you
The options panel is built on Redux. With it you choose unlimited colors through a color picker, Google Fonts typefaces, your own background images and a footer logo. You can also show or hide most elements of each post, handy if you prefer a clean design without date, author or categories.
It supports five post formats: standard, video, audio, gallery and link. If you mix text with podcasts, videos or photo series, each piece is presented in its own way.
To keep readers on your site you get related posts, its own main menu and a footer menu. It includes nine custom widgets, among them featured posts, ads in two formats, Facebook, latest tweets, an "about me" block, popular and latest tabs and social networks. The markup is semantic, with structured data, and the theme is translation ready. It is also compatible with common plugins such as Yoast SEO, W3 Total Cache, Contact Form 7, Mailchimp for WP, AddToAny or WP Review.
Is Izzy right for your blog? What to weigh before deciding
It is a blog theme, not a website builder. It works for publishing and being read comfortably, but don't expect templates designed for a corporate site or a store, even though it can coexist with WooCommerce. Forms and subscriptions are handled with separate plugins, such as those mentioned above. The shortcode generator works as a separate plugin. And if you use the Facebook or latest tweets widgets, check in the demo that they still show what you need.
Can I switch between masonry and classic later?
They are two different blog templates, so you can choose the one you prefer. If you already have many posts, check how your featured images look with the new template.
Does it work for a blog with video or podcasts?
Yes, it has specific video and audio post formats, plus gallery and link.
Do I have to touch code to change colors and fonts?
No: it is done from the options panel with color and Google font pickers.
Can I hide elements of the posts?
Yes, most post elements can be shown or hidden from the panel.
