About Kalium Creative Multipurpose WordPress

A cluttered portfolio competes with your own work

People who make a living showing what they do (an architecture studio, a photographer, an agency) often end up fighting their theme: animations that steal the spotlight, blog templates where projects have to be forced to fit, or designs so busy that the photo ends up in the background.

Kalium Creative Multipurpose takes the opposite approach: white space, clean lines and very few animations, so what people see is the project and not the frame. It is still multipurpose: it has demos for a hotel, restaurant, gym, law firm, wedding, car dealer, education or a WooCommerce store.

Building a studio portfolio with Kalium, step by step

Imagine a studio that wants to publish its projects and offer a contact form. This would be the path.

Step 1: start from a demo close to your sector. You pick a prebuilt site (agency, photography, architecture, freelancer, one-page landing, among others) and import it with one click: pages, posts, sliders, widgets and theme options come along. It is sample content, so you will have to replace texts and images, and it is worth checking in the demo that the layout holds up with your photos.

Step 2: decide how each project looks. There are seven single-project layouts (side, centered with carousel, boxed, full screen, zig zag, among others), four listing types and grids from 1 to 6 columns or in masonry. Images can open in a lightbox, also with YouTube or Vimeo video.

Step 3: lay out the pages. They are built with WPBakery Page Builder, which comes included along with more than 19 custom elements: team, service boxes, client logos, pricing table, map, contact form, Dribbble gallery or a self-typing text. If your team works with another builder, it will have to adapt to WPBakery.

Step 4: adjust the brand. You can use typefaces from Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, premium fonts or your own fonts uploaded to your server, an image or text logo, a sticky menu with several options and a custom skin generator.

Step 5: launch without rushing. There are coming soon and maintenance pages, so you can keep the site closed while you finish it.

Included plugins and other Kalium features

Besides WPBakery Page Builder, Kalium includes Revolution Slider, LayerSlider, Advanced Custom Fields PRO, WooCommerce Product Filter and Product Size Guide.

Among the other features: GDPR ready, responsive and retina design with adaptive images, parallax support, endless pagination, three blog types, a search page and standard, video, quote, image, link, gallery and audio post formats.

Questions before installing Kalium

Is it useful if my business is not creative?

Yes. There are demos for businesses such as restaurants, hotels, medical practices, law firms, construction or education. Even so, the visual base remains sober and portfolio-oriented: look at the demo closest to your sector before deciding.

Can I sell with it?

Yes, but you need the WooCommerce plugin. The theme adds an AJAX mini cart, a products carousel and a catalog mode that hides prices and the add to cart button.

Is it suitable for a multilingual site?

It is certified and tested by the WPML team, supports right-to-left languages and includes .po and .mo files for translating it. Translations contributed by users already exist, including Spanish.

Does it work on multisite?

Yes, it supports WordPress multisite installations.
