About LearnDash Certificate Verify and Share
Certificate Verification and Sharing for LearnDash
When a student finishes a course and receives their certificate, a common problem comes up: how can an employer or a third party confirm that the certificate is genuine without emailing the site admin or trusting a screenshot? LearnDash Certificate Verify and Share solves this by adding a public verification page for every certificate issued, along with tools that let students share it on social media in a way that can be verified.
How Certificate Verification Works
The plugin assigns a unique identifier to each certificate. That code can be displayed on the certificate design itself via shortcode, alongside a QR code that links directly to the verification page. Anyone — a recruiter, a client, a colleague — can enter that code into your site's search tool or scan the QR code to instantly confirm the certificate's details: recipient, instructor, issue date, and expiration date if applicable. No admin panel access or support contact is required.
Sharing Achievements on Social Media
Students can post their certificate as an image along with the verification link on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, so anyone who sees the post doesn't just see an image but can also check its authenticity. There's also an option to add the certificate directly to a LinkedIn profile with a single click, integrating it as another credential in the user's professional history.
Admin Controls and Customization
- Verification templates: choose between two predefined designs for the verification page or create your own template.
- Visible fields: toggle switches let you decide whether to show the instructor, recipient, dates and the "read more" link.
- Restriction by course, quiz or group: the sharing option can be disabled independently for specific courses, quizzes or groups.
- Email notifications: customize the notifications students receive upon completing a course, quiz or group, adjusting the template and the timing of the send.
- PDF download: students can download their certificate's verification page as a PDF file, useful for job applications or HR reviews.
Additional Analytics and Open Credentials Features
The plugin lets you turn certificates into verifiable OpenBadges, checkable through external validators such as IMS Global Open Badges Validator, BadgeCheck.io or Open Badge Factory Validator. It also includes a certificate reports block for the frontend, complete with filters, a search tool and role-based access control (administrator or group leader), plus an analytics dashboard for tracking certificate generation, verification and sharing in real time — useful for measuring student engagement with your training program.
Who This Plugin Is For
This add-on is built for online academies, vocational training centers and certification programs where certificate credibility matters: courses with professional recognition, formal training programs, technical certifications or programs where students need to showcase their achievement to employers. It's also useful in combination with LearnDash's certificate builder add-on, since certificates created with that tool are compatible with the verification and sharing features.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can students download their certificate verification as a PDF?
Yes. The verification page can be downloaded as a PDF file, handy for attaching to job applications or internal HR processes.
Can I disable sharing for certain courses or groups?
Yes. From the settings of each course, quiz or group, you can independently disable the option to share the certificate while keeping verification active across the rest of the site.
Is it compatible with certificates I've already created in LearnDash?
Yes, it works with existing certificates. Just add the unique identifier and, optionally, the QR code via shortcode to enable verification.
Can an employer verify a certificate without accessing my WordPress dashboard?
Yes. They only need the certificate code, the verification link, or to scan the QR code to view the details on the public page — no admin access required.
Can I customize the design of the verification page?
Yes. You can choose from the included templates or create your own, plus control which fields are displayed using the configuration toggles.
