About List Mag WP – Personal News / Magazine Theme
A magazine lives off the second page that gets opened
Whoever sets up a blog of news, lists or videos usually spends months polishing articles and finds out late that the problem is something else: the visitor arrives from a social network, reads one piece and leaves. On this kind of site the business is not in the first click, but in what happens right after it. List Mag WP shows in its demo a grid homepage and posts with visible signals of what gets read and what gets liked.
Its demo mixes very different topics (architecture, cars, soccer, technology, reviews, social media, video), which gives you an idea of how categories work.
What List Mag WP shows in its demo, and where it ends
- Homepage and grid: a home page and a Grid Style variant. Each post shows category, age, author, number of views and two interaction counters.
- Highlighted posts: Trending post and Sticky post labels, plus Top Posts and Most Liked blocks.
- Article formats: posts with YouTube or Vimeo video, an example post for affiliates and paginated articles.
- Archive templates: category, tag, author, search results and a 404 page.
- Supporting pages: a full-width page, shortcodes, typography, a paginated default page and a Submit page.
- Social: links to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube.
It helps to be clear about the limits. It is not a store theme: the affiliate post is a model for laying out an article, not a catalog with a cart. The view counts and counters you see in the demo are sample content, so check in your own installation where they come from before relying on them as social proof. And the Submit page appears in the menu, but check in the demo exactly what it offers before promising your readers that they can send in content.
Common questions before choosing List Mag WP
Does it work for a personal blog with a single author?
The demo signs every article with the same author and also includes an author archive, which will be useful if you add contributors someday.
Can I publish videos?
The demo includes one post with YouTube and another with Vimeo, as well as categories with those names.
Can long articles be split into several pages?
The demo shows a paginated article and a paginated page, so the format is covered.
Does it make sense for reviews with affiliate links?
The demo has an example affiliate post and a reviews category. Use them as a model of how a review would look before building your own.
The demo is your checklist: go through it page by page
The demo menu, with Topics and Features, is the quickest way to know whether the theme suits you. Before deciding, do this walkthrough:
- Open the homepage and the Grid Style variant and decide which one looks more like your site.
- Go into a category, a tag and an author to see how your articles get listed.
- Try the search and the 404 page, which is what a lost reader sees.
- Look at a post with video and the affiliate one, if you will publish that kind of content.
- Open everything on your phone, because a good share of your social traffic will arrive there.
If after that walkthrough your categories fit in the menu and your articles look the way you want, you will have a clear idea of whether the theme works for you.
